It’s interesting how people come here to ask questions about B1/B2 visa interview and prep, and no one comes back to share their interview transcripts. Are visas being issued or is it true that there’s a widespread denial at the Abuja embassy? It’d be nice for others ti truthfully share this information.

I’ve invited 4 people within the last 3 months and all denials including my mom who’s been here 5 times over the last 12 years. 1 out of the 4 is a first time traveler — so weird! The others are either eligible for Dropbox or have previous visits to the U.S. with visas to other countries as well. I’m not really seeking feedback on their interview performance cos I’m confident it’s not the issue. Guess I’m just ranting.

For those of you who got visas, mind sharing what you did differently? I’m wondering if there’s a reduced quota under Trump’s administration.

Members of such group will only get clues here and then prefer to return to their group for testimonies. Secondly, few people find it cumbersome in navigating Nairaland forum, thereby, they are quick to respond to their WhatsApp or other social media groups. The last point is that many people does not like to share negative or positive testimonies, they just want to learn, get result and get away. Very few who are ready to feedback does not know how to post transcripts 😊

Makes sense. I can see why people won’t share disappointing news especially with a stressful process that requires so much planning. I used to be active in the student’s visa thread where people shared both sad news and success stories. I’ll adjust my expectations ☺️

You invited 4 people during the last 3 months is abuse of the system except if you have invited them for very important occasions. The only exception is your mother. USA embassy has done background checks on the inviter (you), so be careful how often you invite within a year.

I never said Trump himself is targeting anyone; I mentioned the Trump administration possibly having reduced visa quotas.

I have have a question and I'd love y'all's honest opinion or answer.


So I have one my sister who wants to go see her son for the Christmas holiday.
She's in her late 50s

She went for her first interview June and was refused


So now they're preparing for her next interview on Monday

So the problem is when I was asking her some prep questions
When I ask her a question like where are you going
She says where she going
Then proceeds to saying how she misses her son and would love to see him
Then when she'll becoming back because of her customers
Then her son said she should not stop talking except she's interrupted by the vo , as it might show a sign that's the vo is interested in what she's saying so if she vo doesn't stop her
She should introduce what she does over here to prove her ties and other relevant stuffs that could help the go understand her case and approve her application


So what do y'all think

Your sister is still in her active adulthood years, therefore, she did not proof enough ties (let's assume she passed financial capability) to the consular. Her hair saloon businesses across Lekki and Ajah is not a good tie. She can be living in America and be controlling the businesses in Nigeria or abandon the businesses for family and establish newly in the United States. Ipso facto, she needs to proof enough ties and genuine intention in her 2nd attempt.

How she misses her son is not a genuine excuse. Her son can visit home during holidays (normal expectation from all U.S residents who have families outside america) or they can always video-chat and communicate as often as they want. Also coming back because of her customers is a feeble excuse because she is not the sole person attending to lets say 70 customers at a go. She definitely has many apprentices or staffs working under her, so she is just like a CEO, or can she prove to the consular that all of her saloon centeres in Nigeria will be closed while she is away visiting her son in the USA ?

Dont follow your nephew's idea. He is saying if they ask your sister " What is the Capital of Lagos ? His mother should answer = Ikeja, and after that, your sister should start telling the VO the Pre-colonial Era History in Lagos State ?
●The normal rule is to go straight to the answer. When you are talking out of the answer then, you are trying to force or trick the consular into your belief.

■ You and your nephew should arrange a good VO Questions and How to Answer format for your sister in order for her to assimilate upon. You should also fill her new DS-160 in a different way from the previous one, otherwise, she will experience another visa denial. You can get whatever info on the aforementioned by studying this thread from the earlier pages.

I got the Visa.here is what they asked.( I went with my husband)

Vo: good morning can I have your passport

My husband: handed him

VO: what's the purpose of your trip?

My husband: I am taking my wife on a short couple trip because since having our babies and work, we have not had time for our ourselves, since I school there, I would like to show her arround

Vo: typing (I don't even know if he was listening )

Vo; you school there was it physical or online

My husband: physical( proceeded to show his old passport with the visa in it

Vo: do you have investment in your house??( him realising the question was wrong, he looked at me and we both laugh, and he corrected it and said do you own ur house ?

Me: I said yes since he was looking at me knowing I was the one that caught that .

Vo: continue typing .. and asked how much do you earn

Me and hubby replied.: our combined was a million plus.. since we work in the same place

Vo: (not looking at us..asked have u been to gaza

Me: I just giggled and said no ooo.(my husband didnt really hear the question so I repeated it to him and said ..gaza so we can go and die..

Vo: smiled... and typed alil... then proceeded to say your visa has been granted , and handed us the white paper..

Please note they denied everyone in our front ,even a whole family with their kids,so me and my hubby had already said no need to expect much sha.. therefore we were kinda relaxed.it was all a grace of God

Pls I just paid for US visa application fee, following the link from AVITS; however, after paying (by following the link for those who don't have First bank acct), it is telling me that payment is not confirmed, I have been debitted.

Guys please I need advice for my mother in law, In 2019 she went to the US and she told them she doesnt know anyone she is just going for visit she got approved. But the truth is her daughter leaves there.

SHE is suppose to be schooling but she got married , that was why she didnt declare. Fastforward to 2021 her daughter got her US passport. so my mother-in-law applied to the US and filled she knows someone but she was denied based on her previous lie of not knowing anyone ...

She has now reapplied and her interview is in march. I need advise on how she can right her wrong.

Congratulations. Once the questions get to "Do you have plans of going to Gaza? Do you plan on going to harvard? Do you have plans to go and give birth? Your visa is already 95% approved, as those questions are confirmatory questions to be sure you will be not a person of concern when you get to the U.S. The U.S under the Trump administration has a strong opposition to anyone who is sympathetic to Palestine and shows any form of opposition to Israel. Harvard because of the anti-semitic protests that rocks the institution from time to time.

If I try including my amentum number to validate my payment it keeps saying that reference doesn't exist. I sent a ticket to support through my AVITS portal and they said that my details must all match for my payment to be validated. Please has anyone encountered this before?

She should stick to the truth. Her daughter is a US Citizen. She might be reminded of her previous lies and will most likely get another refusal.

If that happens, she should just forget the idea of travelling to US for a long time.

However, God is merciful and the VO might just decide to give her the visa. You never can tell...

Please, I need a template of invitation letter for my mum. She want to visit my sister for Omugo. The husband is a citizen and my sister has green card.
Also, I would appreciate any other advice. Thank you.

What is the earliest date for Abuja and Lagos appointments at the moment?

Maybe check the details you used for payment and what you have in AVITS, see if it matches

Your mum does not need an invitation letter. She only needs accommodation evidence, proof of funds and proof of ties. She should indicate intention to spend little time with her grandkid (s) and also familiarise herself with the core information as indicated in her visa application.

If Omugo is her genuine intention, then thats a different visa application scenario.

Good morning all, someone I know attended an interview, never been to the US before but has good travel History, according to her, interview went well and was told that if her visa is approved, it will expire before her proposed travel date and was given a form that says Adminstrative processing..
My question is this , will she need to apply again closer to her travel date? Pay another visa fees ? Or whats the next step.
Has anyone personally experienced this or know someone that has recently

Go back to the bank where u made the payment.

Have you called customer care? I paid online, but never got the reference number. I kept calling customer service at First Bank for 4 days before my money was refunded. I sent email, sent DM on twitter, everything.
When I was refunded, I then went to pay at the bank physically, and I stayed in the bank for 1 hr + till it was validated.

Has anyone gone for H1B/H4 stamping recently. I am in the US and I am planning on going back to do somethings and then go for my stamping on the 5th of January. I just wanted to know the situation of things as regards that. I heard visa appointments are be rescheduled in us embassies in India.
Additionally, what are the chances that Nigeria will me placed on travel ban between now and January?

She can't reapply until the administrative processing is over. That can be up to momths so.

She'll just keep checking regularly to see it's been officially approved or refused.

Did they take her passport?
