This SC is the most inconsistent and unserious in our history
Who brought the LG funds autonomy matter to the SC? Was it the LGs or the FG? Were they sleeping then when they gave judgement in favour of FG in a matter it clearly had no locus?
They should keep embarrassing themselves
Because it is headed by Tinubu brother.

The worst in the history of Nigeria.

And it's so painful that it is beginning to feel numbing.
Can we and should we continue like this!
Nothing about the populace, just satisfying their greed and unduly rewarding cronies and acolytes

Hi

The court must deliver judgement that would make any opposition to Tinubu handicapped, be it state government or party affairs, the one they can't outright deliver, they will hear the case until, it becomes academic+supreme court on Rivers State of emergency)

Supreme Court:

If any entity has grievances on the non release of the local government, it should be local government councils and not the state. The local government has right to sue and be sued as provided by the constitution.

On the ground, the plaintif case is hereby dismissed and it is struck out.
And the governors do not even allow local government to even function.

You have a point. But note that this judgement is bound to benefit all local governments in Nigeria. Being a Supreme Court judgement makes it a law on it's own and a standard that must be applied across board.
So why are LGs not receiving their funds directly from federation account after the much celebrated LG autonomy judgement

You didn't follow there tussle from beginning.
So the style of the tussle determine who wins the case?

I just pray that most of these people will be strong enough to stand the seed most of them are planting today when it starts growing.

out of context argument.

Did you even know what the case is about?

The AGF has no right over the money. The court simply said he has no jurisdiction. If the LGAs did not receive their allocation they (the LGAs) have the right to take it to court. The Local Government not the State Government can make the complaint. Separation of power.

Live your life. Government will come and go but it is you who must make the right decision for your life irrespective of the government of the day

This is a template judgement for all local governments in Nigeria, why are you making it about Tinubu? All the governments in Nigeria don't want local government to control their own allocations, this judgement set them free if they are ready to be free.

Supreme Court Verdict: Osun ALGON Hails Apex Court

...Congratulates Osun Residents

... Reaffirms Commitment To Good Governance, Grassroots Development

The leadership and members of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State Chapter, have commended the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the judgment delivered today, Friday 5th, December , 2025 over the protracted litigation in the Osun Local Government Administration.

ALGON decribed the sound judgment as a welcome development and a testament to the fact that 'judiciary remains the last hope of a common man'

Osun ALGON in a statement signed by its Chairman, Hon. Abiodun Idowu, congratulated the citizens and residents of Osun over the verdict reaffirming their avowed commitment to good governance and grassroots transformation, growth and development.

The State Chapter of ALGON described the verdict as a victory for democracy and freedom from the shackles of retrogression and backwardness that the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke has plunged the state into as seen in his malfeasance and visionless policies and programmes.

Osun ALGON attributed the remarkable judicial victory to the consistency, commitment, resoluteness and avowed dedication of the leadership and members of the party in particular and good people of Osun in general.

While appreciating all and sundry, Osun ALGON lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for repositioning and realigning Nigeria to the path of greatness as envisioned by her founding fathers. ALGON also applauded the National Leader of the party, Chief AbdulKareem Adebisi Akande, overall leader of APC in the state and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, State Chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal as well leaders and prospective members of the party over the landslide victory.

Hon. Idowu extolled the resilience and commitment of ALGON members in the state for their unflinching support and unalloyed solidarity overtime.

"This is just a victory for democracy, victory for good governance and victory for common man on the streets of Osun. We commend the judiciary in general and the justices in Supreme Court in particular for this sound judgment that has practically put an end to the protracted litigations over the control of our Councils in Osun. It is indeed a testament to the fact that judiciary is the last hope for a common man.

"To us, this legal feat has further entrenched our commitment to continue to bring all round development and massive socioeconomic and infrastructural developments to the people at our various Councils. We are resolute to resuscitate the dearth and inflictions that Osun government under the watch of Governor Ademola Adeleke has plunged our Councils into as we begin to bring the more desired change and development to the grassroots", Osun ALGON stated.

This judgement has not awarded victory to any party since the main issue was not determined

The judgement did not give the legal control of local govt to APC nor PDP
But it makes Adeleke handicapped, as it stands now, it's APC people that are forcibly taking of LG, and workers has since refused to go to work. So, LG cannot take Fed govt to court, meanwhile, if they are to pay directly, it would enter the hands of APC officials.

Ratio 6: The Federal Government is directed to remit all LG funds throughout the Federation to all LGAs nationwide—failure to do so amounts to disobedience of the rule of law. The case is hereby struck out. 6 of 7, the full Panel agreed, and only one dissented.
..but the state governors do not allow this LG funds to go directly to the local government..they do not allow the local government chairmen to open an account with the central bank of Nigeria so that LG funds can go directly to the local government...they are still operating a joint account where LG funds are sent to the state government through joint account

fg brought it and they achieved their aim. Today the Lg will be receiving their funds directly from the fg. No form of joint account between the State and the Lg again.

The federal govt should therefore disburse the LGA funds directly to them, as a matter of urgency!

It's total misplacement of responsibility and disrespect for rule of law.

Strategist.

AMINDA:
Is it a new judgment? The supreme Court already ruled on local government autonomy more than two years ago. Instead of Tinubu to implement the judgment, he used it to negotiate with the governors to decamp to the APC. Why is the judgement only being selectively implemented in Osun state? This isn't governance.
Let us not unnecessary emotions becloud our sense of judgement,it was Osun state that sued fg to court not every other states.
