Vice president, Kashim Shettima, has reaffirmed the significant influence of the Igbo community in shaping the country’s development, describing them as “the greatest stakeholders in the Nigerian project.”

Shettima, on Thursday, December 4, speaking on behalf of president Bola Tinubu, addressed the Imo economic stakeholders summit held in Owerri.

He praised the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of Ndigbo, noting that their economic footprint can be seen nationwide.

“Abuja is owned by the Igbo,” Shettima said.

“Half of the population of Lagos is likely made up of the Igbo. There is hardly any place in this country where you won’t find an Igbo manufacturer if you don’t see one, run away from that place. If you don’t see a Hausa person, run away from that place.”

He added that in almost every part of Nigeria, the Igbo can be found driving manufacturing and commerce.

In the same breath, he remarked that both the Igbo and Hausa communities naturally gravitate toward places where opportunities are abundant.

Shettima urged leaders across the country to invest not only in Igboland but in every region, stressing that Nigeria is on the verge of unprecedented transformation.

Citing a former president of Mauritius, he reminded listeners that “one out of every four black men is a Nigerian,” highlighting the country’s global significance.

He projected that by 2050, Nigeria will become the world’s third most populous nation with an estimated 440 million people, surpassing the United States (U.S).

Looking further ahead, he noted that by the end of the century, Nigeria is expected to emerge as the most populated country in the world.

Reaffirming his optimism about the country’s future, Shettima concluded with pride: “I am proud to call myself a Nigerian.”

VP Shettima flew all the way from Abuja to Owerri to praise Igbos because he understands that Igbos love praises.

Save the praise and tell the people a federal project you will bring to Imo State. That would've made more sense to a sane mind; praises don't fix a region.

If u haven't visited Abuja and Lagos u will think Shettimanis lying.

In Lagos he is right,I was born there abd after 19years I relocated to Abuja.

In Abuja,Igbos will never make that mistake they made in Lagos here, never.

They have established themselves here and doing well.

Yes,go to Utako Market,deidei market,Kugbo mechanic,Apo mechanic,Zuba tyre market,Gudu electronic market,Wuse Market,Fo1 building material market.
Lugbe building material market and finally,Kaura markets, Fish market is mixed with igbos and Hausa and Edo people.

When it comes to real estate...it is dominated by igbos the Nwaora,The Ukachukwu brothers and The Mbaka of platinum mortgage banks and trademore estates...the Cachez brothers.

Igbo presence creates value any where they go to.

The statement he made is wrong. If Igbo is half of Lagos and Hausa is 45 percent because I can't bet Igbo is more than Hausa in Lagos then the remaining Nigerians, Yoruba and foreigners will be five percent?. All indication say Yoruba are a majority by a large margin in Lagos. Why support that kind of faulty statement? If Hausa and Igbo are ninety five percent of Lagos what have they to show for it by electoral representation? The senator of Abuja is a Yoruba person. Out of 800 HNIs resident in Abuja I can sit here and count many Yoruba and I have never been to Abuja. Don't be carried away by such statements

Why will I be angry?. The statement is not true by any standard or measure. Do you really believe him?. It may be for something he wants to collect from Igbos and Hausas.
In Abuja reports say there are 800 dollar millionaires and ten thousand people worth over 100 million naira. Both excluding personal homes. There is no report that says any group whether Igbo or Hausa is overrepresented

Well, Abuja still remains a city dominated and controlled by the Fulanis. It is their London. Two, Shettima isn't someone whom Igbos should jump because he praised us.

See them...

IGBOs don't need praises to certify their region.

For the singular fact that 97% of IGBOs want BIAFRA, should tell you that they believe it and see NIGERIA as a cesspool of failures.

So the praise singing is for the few schmucks like Hope Uzodinmma and his horde of failures.

Let that sink in. angry

Enugu, Onitsha, Aba, Owerri are cosmopolitan enough now. I believe up to seventy percent of the development of their state is concentrated in those cities. The cosmopolitan area of those cities.is now massive. There is reason to believe they are no less than half of Ibadan each.

It means they own the most properties in Abuja and remember that an average Yoruba person doesn't have interest in acquiring properties like an average Igbo man.

Yoruba man prefer his Owambe parties and women more than anything in life.
