captain2020:These are the kinds of topics that should be frequenting nairaland front page. What if one person owns like 4 different LTD companies with different bank accounts for each of the companies, will the turnover for all the 4 companies owned by this one individual be joined together and taxed as one or will they be taxed individually? Secondly, if a company has not been paying tax in the past and has existed for like 11 years, will there be any penalty or issue if the company starts paying from next year? Your honest counsel is highly appreciated |

This doesn't make sense. Many businesses that pay tax cannot boast of ₦40m a year, but want to tax personal account with ₦70k a month? |

franchasng:Taxed individually because in the eyes of the law they are all separate entities. Second 11 years of not tax or anual returns if you have not been removed you will have to pay those fines |

My prediction on this tax is that it's going to be one of the policies APC government will rescind before December 2026. But for now, just pay up. |

This whole tax bill starting from 800k is just ludicrous. It's voodoo economics in plain sight. While Tax on it's own is a good way for raising money for governments, but it's never a solution to a developing economy like Nigeria's. Take for instance, someone running 2 or 3 electronics shops, most definitely that person will make at least 5m in a year as from sales.. Not profit oo, but sales.. And now what if most those goods were actually collected as loan, as in sell and pay later as most people operate business of that nature.. Now, at the end of the year the person owns profit isn't more about 20-25% of that 5m operating cost.. And now you government steps in to collect 500k fron that, mind you, government is asking for the 500k that he or she might not have as in cash in hand or available balance on his account or directly though, but because the transactions in his or her account reflects that 5m transaction has already been recorded on this account.. that person is liable to pay the tax by force.. The whole go and register your company issue isn't for the present Nigeria system.. I fully disagree with this PIT bill. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. If you are taxing corporate organization to raise money that is understandable but taxing a normal person without even any incentive to pay the tax is a joke. What are they getting in return for the tax? Is it security, good infrastructure, medical assistance or what in particular.. I am an advocate for a Nigeria as a nation that works but this I have been saying is just like broad daylight robbery.. why do I have to be keeping money in crypto when I have my own account in my country.. paying tax is not a bad idea but it's tits for tat.. what are Nigerians getting for it. Even in the US they still have tax refunds and all that.. and if it's about loan, not everyone likes the idea of loan. As for me personally, I loathe it so what's beneficial for people like me.. absolutely nada.. and to even think that AlphaBeta will still be involved again..it just seems a little bit sketchy. Because when you think about it, even the 20m plus Nigerians in diaspora, 3 out of 5 already feel this is unnecessarily unjust.. |

Gradually we'll go back to the British tax (colonial) Master era. In those days before you go to market you'd be sure you are with your taxes receipt, if not you'll find yourself in prison. Enugu State traders are complaining already ( that Peter Mba is taxing them heavily). Even pure water hawkers are not exempted. |
