The Osanebi Progressive Movement (OPM), a prominent socio cultural organisation in the Niger Delta, has reaffirmed its full support for the re election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. The group made this known after a major stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday, stating that President Tinubu’s performance and ongoing transformation policies remain the key reasons for its continued backing.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the convener of the group, Comrade Mathias Ogochukwu Osanebi, explained that the gathering brought together community leaders, youth representatives, women leaders and other stakeholders of the OPM. He noted that after extensive discussions, members unanimously agreed that supporting President Tinubu’s second term bid was necessary to sustain the administration’s economic reforms and nationwide infrastructure projects.

Comrade Osanebi emphasised that the group’s endorsement was rooted in its belief that Nigeria needs consistency in leadership to ensure that the current development agenda is not disrupted. He added that the progress recorded under the present administration, particularly in economic stabilisation and infrastructure expansion, motivated their decision to stand firmly behind the president as preparations for the 2027 elections begin.

According to him, the group has resolved to intensify mobilisation efforts across Ndokwa Nation, Delta North, and other political wards and communities. He recalled that OPM delivered strong grassroots support during the 2023 elections and stated that the organisation plans to double its reach and participation this time, ensuring that every village, ward and community is actively involved.

Comrade Osanebi also used the opportunity to appeal to the federal government to consider more appointments for qualified sons and daughters of Ndokwa Nation. He explained that the region contributed significantly to President Tinubu’s victory in 2023 and remains ready to do even more in 2027, while hoping to see increased federal presence and development in Ndokwa in partnership with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

He added that the group looks forward to further infrastructural improvements in the region and expressed confidence that both the federal and state governments would continue to prioritise development plans that benefit Ndokwa. He assured members that the OPM will maintain open communication with relevant authorities to support these expectations.

Concluding the briefing, Comrade Osanebi announced that the group has begun preparations for a formal endorsement rally, which will hold in either Ndokwa East or Asaba. He stated that the date and full programme of the event will be released to the public soon as part of the organisation’s efforts to consolidate support ahead of the election season.
