NAF ALPHA JET PILOTS DISPLAY COURAGE AND PROFESSIONALISM DURING POST-INSPECTION TEST FLIGHT EMERGENCY

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) commends the exceptional bravery and professionalism of its Alpha Jet pilots who safely ejected following an in-flight emergency during a post-inspection functional check flight today, 6 December 2025, at Nigerian Air Force Base Kainji. Shortly after take-off, the aircraft developed an emergency, prompting the pilots to act swiftly and with remarkable composure. They expertly manoeuvred the aircraft away from populated areas before executing a safe ejection. The crew is currently undergoing routine medical evaluation.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has praised the pilots for their courage, discipline and sound judgement, which prevented loss of life. He has also directed the immediate constitution of a Board of Inquiry to investigate the incident. The Nigerian Air Force reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to stringent safety standards and operational excellence. The NAF remains dedicated to safeguarding its personnel while protecting the lives and property of citizens in line with its constitutional mandate.

It was a post inspection flight.

That's, after a repair work.

Nothing like the bird being downed by enemy fire.

It's a miracle that Nigeria is still flying this obsolete softskin trainer jet and light attack craft as a ground attack all weather fighter jets.

Wonder where we get spares for this planes since Germany has retired it and sold them off to other countries like naija and private individuals, while co-maker france never used theirs as attack fighters but for training pilots which has since stopped.

These situations MUST be avoided from here on out. The NAF requires more air platforms in this war on foreign Fula militia bandits from the Sahellian countries of West Africa, the Tuareg-led Lakurawa bandits from Niger Republic and Northern Mali, and the criminal jihadi groups such as BH and ISWAP (which is the breakaway faction of BH), yet an Alpha Jet has crashed again during routine checks.

This MUST be investigated to prevent another occurrence. Period.
