It depends on whether the people welcome the coup or not. If a government is considerate of the people and their welfare, people would likely reject a coup otherwise they might welcome the coup. The rising number of coups in West Africa may indicate that democracy is not working as it should and not serving the people. seunmsg: |

This thing is inching closer and closer!. If things do not change significantly, I predict that a military coup will be attempted and possibly succeed in Nigeria within the next two years. |

Dey play.... That was what some people said 25 years ago. Infact, when he was sick and rumours were flying left and right that he was dead, Biya said and I quote " I give a RDV of 20 years for those wishing me dead" Biya will finish this 7 years, note this down. His family members are known to live well beyond 100 years and if you add his trimestrial medical trips to Switzerland for exchange transfusion and organ transplant, then you should know that Biya will still win 2032 Presidential elections in Cameroon and live beyond that mandate. nairalanda1: |

oalandAgents2:The economy of Benin is stable, also the CFA, so I was kind of puzzled why the coup?? It would have been rejected by the majority. |

Having a stable economy is not an achievement. The value of the CFA is controlled by France is the same value in all Francophone countries. I am not saying that a coup is justified, it depends on the people of the country to decide whether they're happy about the coup or not. judewrites: |

Lanre1st:I don't like the way our rulers are ruling us, but at least under democracy, I get chance to chase them out with my vote in 2027. Even 2023, if not that atiku and obi were not united, apc and tinubu would have been kicked out. I know, corruption, but army rule won't change anything. The same corruption under democracy always continues under army rule. To say nothing of lack of freedom of speech, and bad economic policies I can remember when they were saying we had to remove Shagari in 1983 because corruption and bad economy. Not only did the economy get worse , but so did the corruption. By 1988 we were begining to cry for Democratic rule self. Plus an army that is now spending time between leadership and fighting boko and bandits is a distracted army. The crisis may even get worse. |

judewrites:Lol Economy of benin is not stable. Most of the people are poor. So poor that they preferred to buy smuggled Nigerian subsidied fuel instead of their own legally imported fuel because the price of the latter was too too expensive. Tinubu removing subsidy made life hard not just for Nigerians, but hard for our neighbors that were relying on subsidized cheap naija fuel Even that cfa , back in 1985, one dollar was less than 2 naira. Under buhari. That was the era when inflation was high and people were queueing to buy things like milk, sugar and bread! Value of a currency does not mean everyone in the country is living well, otherwise there would have been no coup in Mali, Burkina and Niger which all use the same CFA franc. If we want good life, make our economy become productive to the point that per Capita gdp is above $15000 per person. That's the real measure |
