Nigeria, China deepen strategic ties, pledge stronger economic, security cooperation

Nigeria and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation across key economic and geopolitical sectors as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, received the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, in Abuja.

At the high-level meeting, both sides reviewed the state of Nigeria-China relations and exchanged views on regional and global developments. Ambassador Yu praised Nigeria’s stabilising role in West Africa and aligned with Minister Tuggar’s concerns over the mischaracterisation of regional crises by external actors.

“China recognises Nigeria’s leadership in West Africa and stands firmly with the country in safeguarding security, stability, AND SOVEREIGNTY,” Ambassador Yu stated, reaffirming Beijing’s political support for Abuja.

Discussions also expanded into areas of deeper cooperation, including industrialisation, technology transfer, and the exploration and processing of rare earth and critical minerals, sectors crucial to Nigeria’s long-term economic growth.

The meeting examined China’s proposed “process solutions”, designed to bolster Nigeria’s manufacturing capacity and energy transition.

Mr Tuggar and Ambassador Yu also reviewed opportunities for enhanced collaboration in migration policy, capacity-building programmes, and investment partnerships aimed at economic transformation. Both sides agreed that bilateral agreements currently under review would play a central role in unlocking these opportunities.

Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Ministry’s Spokesperson, in a statement, emphasised that the session reinforced the commitment of both nations to a deeper, mutually beneficial partnership.

“Nigeria and China remain committed to advancing cooperation that delivers concrete benefits for the citizens of both countries,” the ministry said.

America will assist in dividing Nigeria as was predicted by her prophets. Before America will talk, they have their evidences and plans in place. Do not rejoice over China who is just milking Nigeria. America is just using Christian persecution as a cover, underneath is political balance with Chinese influence in Nigeria.

I personally believe the Government must be held Accountable through agencies like the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, the Nigerian Customs Service, and state-level authorities, who has the sole legal authority to issue mining licenses, monitor operations, and approve the export of minerals.
Transporting trailer loads of solid minerals is not a clandestine, small-scale operation.
It involves Extraction, Heavy machinery, visible site activity. Multiple vehicles moving on major and local roads, using ports or land borders for export.

This scale of operation cannot go unnoticed by local authorities, state ministries, federal regulators, and security agencies. Their failure to act is, at best, negligence and, at worst, complicity.
