PRESIDENT TINUBU SEEKS SENATE CONSENT ON TROOPS DEPLOYMENT TO BENIN REPUBLIC

President Bola Tinubu this Tuesday transmitted to the senate a request seeking its consent to deploy Nigerian troops on peace mission to Benin Republic.

In the communication the President explained that the deployment is to provide support in the country as requested by President Patrice Talon, following the recent failed coup attempt.

The deployment is in line with the protocol of the regional bloc, Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS.

Nigeria had earlier provided air intervention following the unconstitutional breach in Benin.

Troops should be deployed in Sambissa. In Sokoto, in Yobe.
We have all sorts of serious security issues here.
Nigerias troops have nothing to do in Benin Republic.
Allow that country to sort herself.
Benin Republic is a country of her own. She is not the 37th state of Nigeria.

Tinubu should stop using Nigerias military assets to fight French wars in Africa..

There was an unconstitutional breach which warranted immediately and somewhat unconstitutional deployment earlier and now that normalcy is restored and following request from the government of benin,the president can now seek a constitutional deployment of troops subject to the NaSS approval

Sending troops to Benin is very much ok, if Benin should get worse, the after effects will be felt in Nigeria.

I thought they said our military personals are overstretched, and we needed urgent military recruitment.

How come we left Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, and North East just to send our limited troops to Benin?

Nigeria remains part of a regional standby / rapid-deployment force under ECOWAS, and troops may be mobilized abroad when needed. It's ECOWAS standby force.
There's an existing Mutual Defence and Constitutional Order Protocol — establishing a 5,000-person rapid-intervention force headquartered in Abuja.

Nigeria remains a key member of that security architecture. But wailers go wail tire, including content creators and ignorant TV people.

Some people don't understand the simple math, your street and neighborhood can't be burning and you sleep or have a party. The problems around us, put pressure on us. If you are rich in the middle of poor relatives, you are poor. Of course, wailers can't relate or understand. They are not destined to.
