His counterpart in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Engr. Augustine Agu, praised the governor’s achievements, noting: “Governor Mbah has done in two years what others could not do in eight years. His private-sector discipline is evident. We fully support him.” He however urged the government to consider their interest in operating the BRT buses and transport terminals, insisting that they have all it takes to perform creditably. Comrade Kingsley Edeh, speaking for the Amalgamated Tricycle Riders Association in Enugu State, noted that there are 18,000 Keke riders in the state, and appealed for taxis to be made available as alternatives for riders who may wish to transition. He welcomed the government’s commitment that no one will be displaced but rather reorganized into a more efficient system. The Commissioner inaugurated a joint review committee comprising ministry officials and transport union representatives to finalize operational modalities ahead of the full rollout of the BRT buses on the dedicated routes, with the launch date to be announced soon.

Way to go. No need for tricycle on highway. As for the yellow Buses, l think they should live the clean ones and should restrict those wrecked ones that smocks like shi-sha. ![]() |

Will those buses be enough to cater for all the passengers who live around those corridors? Oga, let yellow buses operate with your buses. |

obinna58:When they did same in fct, many of them relocated to the satellite towns. The real problem is that Nigeria does not have enough industries. If it did, many of the young men would have been working there and getting paid well if the industry is exporting overseas |

SlavaUkraini:It is adequate, but the problem is, Nigerians don't want to pay the kind of money that would make it adequate Cities around the world that have working brt also get residents of the city to pay city tax for the benefit or high ticketing prices . |

| Re: Enugu To Restrict Tricycles, Yellow Buses From Major Highways As BRT Starts by nairalanda1(m): 3:46pm On Dec 09, 2025 |
Helpfromabove1:Poor maintenance happens because many of the buses cone from abroad. So keeping them well maintained costs a lot of money, and since state governments don't want to increase ticket prices, the revenue is never enough to pay for continued maintenance. We don't have poor maintenance culture. People in this country go to their mechanics even when the car or vehicle is working. It's cost that is the issue ( I hope innoson is supplying the brt busses though) |

Too much Cho Cho Cho How can just 200 BRT service those high traffic corridors mentioned? If this rule is obbeyed they Keke riders will now relocate to Abakpa, trans ekulu and streets in Achara layout as the only area left for them to operate and maybe coal camp....... Does it mean no more take Keke drop to make your journey faster again? |

That's the only solution to Lagos traffic. You don't need small buses and tricycles on the major roads, you only need coastal and BRT buses |

All South East governor's are working and performing very well. Except Alex Otti constructing sub standard roads. When will Abia have a good leader. Otti will be chased out of govt house come 2027. Even ikpeazu performed better than Otti both Theodore Orji performed better than Otti |

The problem with this scheme I any state aside Lagos is that the initiators copy Lagos alot.. Lagos has a mega population unlike ur scanty states... So using very long carriage buses us adequate in Lagos but not adequate in smaller states.. Remember BRT are either runner on self sustainance or profit making, so the drivers will be eager to fill up their buses in the prime bustops so they can balance the books.. What I mean is that smaller mini buses , not like shuttle, but something like half of the sizes of the buses I can sight on this thread is ok..this will help reduce the loading period and prevent commuters anger and eventual dislike for the system This will enable swift loading and discharge from loading points.. and make the persongers happier and more embracing |
