Public Wells are build by individual or govt not by water corporation so you can't call public well a corporation water supply. Post the video of water tap running and it's water corporation that is supplying the water like in Togo or Benin Republic etc? I'm waiting... |

ColdHunter:I never see any SW city where tap is running from the board, apart from individual borehole there are some places in SE you use it from the board taps |

JASONjnr:Onitsha and Lagos are the only 2 cities in Nigeria that made the list of the most built up urban areas in the world, so you are wrong to say Anambra is not recognized |

I served in Ekiti State. Very poor state with no infrastructure. People shit on the roadside and travel long distances to get dirty water. I ran away from the state the day I collected my NYSC certificate. |

ColdHunter:Have you been to the south east? The answer is no. I have lived in both SS/SE. Drilling a borehole in the east is a huge project. It is very expensive because the water table is far below the earth crust. However, in most regions the SS, just digging some few feets down and you will come across water. Sometimes, digging a soak away/ septic tank might be a problem as water will be gushing out from the ground. I had a funny experience will trying to erect a clothe line. I was using a cutlass to make a small hole where the poles will go in and surprisingly, water started seeping out! That's why I find it shocking that the SE can be up there too with the kind of terrain they have. Kudos to them |

ColdHunter:Lagos doesn't start and end in Ajah, Ikoyi or VGC! In my own house, I have my borehole with clean water, and I've been using it for 15 years; I drink and do everything with it. Badagry. |

Benin that we went to help to put down a coup plot has pipe borne water access from the water board. We are here talking of borehole water. |

Believe this and you will believe that hens have teeth. While specific regional data varies and overall access is low, Lagos State consistently shows the highest access to basic water services (around 96%), followed by Jigawa and Imo, with Kwara also noted for high piped access, indicating the Southwest and parts of the North (like Jigawa) have better infrastructure, though functionality and consistent supply remain major challenges nationwide. Key Findings: Lagos State: Leads with about 96% access to basic water supply, though much of this is via public taps or motorized systems, not always direct pipe-borne, as noted in allAfrica.com. Jigawa & Imo States: Follow Lagos with high access (92% and 90% respectively) in a 2020 survey, showing strong performance in the North-West and South-East, notes allAfrica.com. Kwara State: Showed high piped water access (around 59.5%) in one study, placing it high on the piped water index, according to SciSpace. South-West (General): Areas in the Southwest, like Oyo State's Ibadan North (97.5% access in a study), show high levels of service, though often through varied systems, reports ScienceDirect.com. |
| Re: Zones That Have Access To Water Supply, From Top To Bottom by casualobserver: 10:48am On Dec 10, 2025 |
ColdHunter:Actually the matter is really not that hard to explain. First of all the figures are based on ratios. In this case available boreholes per thousand households. They say half of the population of Lagos alone are Ibos. If you took those Ibo households and transplanted them Back in the SE, you will get much different figures in both the SW and the SE. If 2 households share 1 borehole in the SE and I household migrates to SW. the figure in the SE goes from 2 households per borehole to 1. Whereas if a single family compound in Lagos previously had 1 Borehole and is demolished to build a dwelling with 6 flats, it’s still only 1 borehole but now shared by 6 households and so the Lagos figure will go from 1 per borehole to 6 households per borehole. |

Southwest embraced APC. APC governments don't know that it's the job of government to provide running water to citizens. The largest public water supply system in Nigeria was built by PDP government in Kaduna. |
