Ghana has 25 million people.

They should have no problems with such a tiny population that is less than Lagos.

Egypt and Algeria BOTH saw far greater colonial infrastructural development than black African countries.

If you visited Cairo or Algiers in the 1960s, they were like SOUTH AFRICA too.

LAGOS WAS BUSH, apart from Ikoyi where the colonial thieves lived.

BY THE WAY, ACCORDING TO AI CHATGPT, BRITAIN OWES NIGERIA $50 TRILLION FOR HER PLUNDER OF THE COUNTRY.

Our underdevelopment today is caused by THEM.

THEY LOOTED THIS COUNTRY FOR A WHOLE CENTURY AND PUT NOTHING BACK.

THAT'S WHY WE ARE PLAYING CATCHUP TODAY.

IF YOU DON'T KNOW YOUR HISTORY, YOU WILL LEARN IT BY FORCE.
And Nigerian politicians owes Nigeria how much for looting? There will always be excuses for failures.

Honestly, this is very sad as a Nigerian and as a giant of Africa.

Our Government need to do more about the electricity of the country.

I can't believe it that Nigeria is not on the list.
I don't know why your comment is sounding like it's coming from a robot.

Me, I don't expect Nigeria to be on the list...
Why? Our people believed to rather steal billions of dollars and naira, store it until it rotten then burn or throw it away than using it to benefits the masses.

Most reliable should be differentiated from a country most parts electrified.

100% power access doesn't mean 100% regular power supply, something the article failed to acknowledge.

NIGERIA HAS THE WORLD'S SECOND LARGEST FILM INDUSTRY AFTER HOLLYWOOD.

NIGERIA IS THE ENTERTAINMENT, MUSIC AND FASHION CAPITAL OF AFRICA.

THE ENTIRE WORLD IS HEADING TO LAGOS FOR DETTY DECEMBER.

YOU HAVE THINGS TO BE PROUD OF AS NIGERIANS, SO STOP FEELING INFERIOR!
you clearly have comprehension issues. Nigeria has been the gaint of africa for over 30 years long before any of the thing you listed here was a thing. Detty december is not up to 3 years, Afrobeats dominance not up to 10 years. Which entire world is heading to lagos 🤣. Nigeria is not even top 10 visited countries in Africa

NIGERIA'S ACCESS TO ELECTRICITY IS OVER 65%.

MEANING SHE SUPPLIES ELECTRICITY TO 170 MILLION PEOPLE - MORE THAN ANY COUNTRY IN AFRICA.
China supplies to 1.4 billion persons and they surpass USA.

African giant indeed.
Nigeria as a nation cannot host an African Cup Of Nation, not to talk of World cup.
The only time they attempted hosting was being a co-host with Ghana in the 2000 AFCON, while South Africa comfortably hosted a FIFA World Cup tournament in 2010.
What a now disgraced country called Nigeria.
So shameful.

As long as politicians hold looting of public funds dearest in their minds, bodies and souls, actualizing extensive electrification of Nigeria could take another 200yrs. If ever.

What is important now is 24hour power supply and the country seems close to achieving that now.

Coverage comes second. Thankfully now, mini-power grids are now possible, so connecting new communities won't be that expensive.
A shout out must go to China where overinvestment in solar energy has left to a crash in the prices of solar panels.
Nigeria should do itself a favor by bringing the duty on solar panels to Zero to encourage its deployment.

Price on solar panel can only drop when theres 24/7 electricity. Price of generator will go down .

We are not in the circuit theory class please write so that someone that measures in banking and finance or sociology can understand you, ok? We engineers can understand, but what of those who are not?
What?
I am not even an engineer ( government school trained) as you are. So there is no excuse for you nor anyone else about not understanding how to turn the Circuit Into Real life SELF POWERED MOTIONLESS ELECTRICITY GENERATOR. A generator Powerful Enough to generate unlimited GigaWatts of Power because of THE DC CAPACITORS and HIGH FREQUENCY CHARGING at tuned Resonance.
You may think you understand the Circuit, BUT I TELL YOU NOW.... you do not understand it at all unless fully explained to you because YOU ARE TRAINED to believe in the Closed system or the covert laws of Thermodynamics.

Keep the circuit while it is still available on Nairanland because you can't get it elsewhere as a whole.

I didn't want to comment here, but here we go

Nigeria has power problems because of a liquidity crunch fuelled by people not paying cost reflective tarrifs.

Look at all the countries on the list. Check welland you will find they pay cost reflective tarrifs

Then you come to Nigeria. 60% of metered homes bypass the meters. Many parts of the country don't even pay for the power they use. And of those who pay, only a minority pay cost reflective tarrif.

At the end the power sector doesn't have enough money to pay for improvement, upgrades and even expansion. When the rich and poor are not paying into the system, it is kind of strange to expect the system to work.

It is like feeding your child one slice of bread every day and expecting them to perform well at school.

But Nigerians do not want to face that fact. They want to believe in fantasies that if we remove corruption, we go dey all right. Meanwhile benin republic had a coup, meaning the government is corrupt, so why do they have better light then?

Cost reflective tarrifs.

Anyway, Dem go call person agbero for talking the truth. Nigerians and their government self.

Ivory coast used to have blackouts and grid collapse back in the 1980s until 1993 when they introduced cost reflective tarrifs. Since then nothing like blackouts. World bank even invested in their power sector. And they are as poor and corrupt as we are
