Let me be honest with you. No one is coming to save you. Not your parents, not the government, not some random windfall. Your financial security depends entirely on what you're building right now. Yes, miracles happen. Some people win the lottery or inherit money. But banking your future on luck is like hoping to get struck by lightning. It's possible, but would you bet your life on it? The good news is that you don't need a miracle when you have a plan. Starting with just N5,000 or N10,000 naira monthly can change your entire financial trajectory. I'm not talking about getting rich overnight. I'm talking about building real, lasting wealth that gives you options and freedom. Today, I made some profit from cryptocurrency trading. You know what I did? I immediately moved N50,000 naira into my mutual funds investment. That's the move. Every time you get extra money, whether it's from a side gig, a bonus, or investment gains, take at least 20% and add it to your long term investments. Then look away and let it grow. There are legitimate platforms out there that are regulated and insured by government agencies like the Securities and Exchange Commission and Nigeria Deposit Insurance Commission. Places where your money is protected and working for you. The information is available. The tools are ready. The only thing stopping you is inaction. You can't blame anyone if you're sitting on this information and doing nothing with it. Five years from now, you'll either thank yourself for starting today or regret that you kept postponing. Your 20s are your power years. This is when time is your biggest advantage. The compound interest you earn over the next ten to twenty years will do more for your wealth than anything else. Don't be discouraged by the little returns of the starting years, it will only get better. Don't wait for the perfect moment. Don't wait until you're earning more. Don't wait until you fully understand everything. Start small, stay consistent, and learn as you go. Your future self is depending on the choices you make today. Make them count. I am always afraid of any investment that is denominated in naira, the value of the naira currency can fall in a second and an investment that was worth millions will become some thousands or even hundreds ![]() |

oz4real83:As a Nigerian do you really have an option? Dollar denominated investments often offer low returns, unless you want to dabble into foreign stocks and crypto. What I do personally is to invest in Naira while doing my calculations in dollar. If for instance i plan to invest $30 monthly I do the dollar calculation for that month and invest, Doing that I am able to boost my equity, at least. And of course you have to diversify, while investing Naira, also make sure you are saving in dollars. |
