Nigeria has always had sharia law in the North. It existed under colonial rule and it has existed since independence. Nigeria is a federation. That means each federating unit is free to make its own laws. Just like in America which is also a federation, there are different laws in different states. For instance in some states you must have ID to vote, it some it is not required. Yet they are all voting in the same election.

The sharia court of appeal is actually enshrined in the constitution and has been enshrined in every constitution before and since independence.

We’ve had Shari from day 1, it doesn’t apply to Christians, it was never an issue, why suddenly is it an issue? Whatever problems we have today have nothing to do with sharia law.

And Sharia is not in full control it's just a matter of marriages, and small moralities, not even the one you are crying for.

1: sharia law has been in all constitutions since 1954….I repeat All. I am not a fan of Obasanjo but he hasn’t got the power to stop sharia law. The constitution grants all states the power. It’s not a law a president can override. Again a disiplay of eeeeegnoorance.
2: it is ironic that the Ibos shouting sharia will condemn a law that doesn’t apply to them in Nigeria but willingly travel to places where sharia law applies to them e.g UAE and Indonesia especially on their drug missions.
