Baba Esu, we give homage to you.

Esu is everywhere. We call him the Orisa with many faces. Why?? Because Esu represents divine duality. He is dark & light at the same time. He is masculine and feminine at the same time. He can bring miracles, he can bring mayhem. Esu is the Orisa that delivers us with our choices. He does not choose for us. The choice we make is entirely ours! So Esu is not evil, Esu is not Satan.

Esu provides a choice. Esu reminds us that our choices have consequences, so we should make good decisions.

It’s very important to appease Esu as much as you can. Whyhuh Because when Esu is happy, he will bring you great opportunities, and he will bless you with so many doors. However, when Esu is neglected, he will close all your doors quickly. He will bring you opportunities that may lead to chaos and destruction.

Never forget that Esu is the enforcer of ajogun (negative forces). The closer you are to Esu, the further you are from ajogun.

The better you treat Esu,

The better Esu will treat you.

It is the 24th day of December 2025 Gregorian year, (Kojoda calendar, it’s 10,067th year) a day Ifa Practitioners, traditionalists, and all respectful Omoluabi, Omo Karo O’jire, all Pan African worldwide remind the entire universe of the personality that surrounds Esu. In a message that serves as an awareness #EsuIsNotSatan.

Let’s walk for Esu, spread the Original news about Esu this year on the 24th of December. Save the date for Esu Walk. EsuIsNotSatan

1) It is a known fact that ISESE predates any foreign religion, be it Christianity or Islam, or any Abrahamic religion.
2) The concept of God in the Abrahamic religions is not the same thing as Olodumare. Same as using those small letter g to try to make Onisese feel less of themselves is a common stereotype among all the Abrahamic religions.
3) When Ajayi Crowther was captured by the slavers, he was pretty young but brilliant; there is no way he could have mastered all there is in IFa. He was a slave returnee used as another "useful idi0t," just as we have many of them today among us.
4) For your information, Ajayi Crowther initially translated Satan to be Satani, just as he translated Peter to be Peteru. When the puppet master, the slavers, the invaders, the troopers, the missionaries saw that many are not dumping their traditional identity/belief to pick up the foreign ideology of Christianity... They went back to the drawing board to "libel" Esu as the biblical Satan... Which Esu is not and has never been. Esu has a lot of functions.

5) My 5th point is. Only an inferiority complex and or superiority complex tradition/religion/ ideology tries to cancel a higher culture because these foreign inferiority complex ideologies/traditions/religions feel threatened by a higher culture such as ISESE. This is common even to this day with those of Christianity and Islam... In reality, ISESE does not in any shape or form promote cancel culture. You will never hear of any Onisese libeling the foreign religions or any Odu Ifa that says such.

6)What about the religious war called the Crusades and Jihad? OMG! What is the meaning of that? Let me ask you, the practitioners of ZEUS today, the Greek Gods, where are they today? Why massacre all of them in the name of one religion? Let me remind you, Europe was called Christendom in the Dark Ages. The history is right there in the open. What about Jihad in the Quran? Is there any ideological difference between Jihad and Crusade?

Now, those who continue to libel Esu are in no position, form, or have any moral authority to tell us who Esu is, not via their slave returnee by the name Ajayi Crowther. It is even laughable.

Isese doesn't predate God Almighty in the Book of Genesis, neither does it predate Olodumare whom the Yoruba Race accepts as their Creator

God (Olodumare) in Yoruba Tradition who sent both Obatala and Oduduwa to Earth was the same God who created the Earth and all mankind in the book of Genesis that was God Almighty (Olodumare)

Even in Yoruba Tradition Olodumare preceeded the worshiping of him through Isese because God had to first create Mankind

Obatala and Oduduwa in Yoruba Tradition represents the Ancestors of the Yoruba Race as they were created by God Everlasting

The best way I can describe Olodumare in English is "The everlasting God" according to Prof Sophie Oluwole Olodumare means "He who owns the everlasting Pot"

Olodu means "the owner of the Pot"
Mare nears " that never ends or is everlasting "

Bishop Ajayi Crowther didn't need to be an Ifa devotee to recognise that Olodumare and God Almighty were one and the same.
Even the Yorubas accepted that Olodumare was the maker of all creation and had no rival

Bishop Ajayi Crowther had a good look at the description of Esu and recognised the Character from the Bible

Who else is the deceiver, and the father of deception ,chaos and destruction?

Our Yoruba Ancestors might not have had the Bible but they recognised the Power of the Everlasting God and they recognised the difference between light and darkness

They were even often able to recognise evil because of the ability to love that the Everlasting God had given them

Is it possible for a loving father to desire evil for his son?
Never!!
So they protected their offspring from everything they perceived as evil.
Whether they did it according to the way God wanted is another matter entirely

That is why you have Yoruba Proverbs like
Omo ki buru ki eniyan gbe f'Ekun je
which translated means no matter how bad a child is you would never give it to a leopard to eat.

That was a divine instruction and understanding they had received from the Everlasting God that they were always to protect their Children

Last last you will discover that the being that Yorubas knew as Olodumare was actually Jesus Christ himself.

But " Olodumare " was how they understood the manifestation of him and his Power because they lived in an age of Ignorance though his power was manifesting around them daily from giving them ,rain, food and many other blessings too great for them to ignore his presence and his existence in their daily lives.

So Yoruba Ancestors devised their own way to acknowledge him because they already were convinced he was there and that he was their creator
That practice is what you are now calling Isese

Jesus Christ was the physical manifestation of Olodumare that our Ancestors were trying to reach and even impress through their Isese Practices which they did in their age of Ignorance.

That was why Jesus Christ told the Samaritan Woman that met him at the Well

John 4 v21-26.

21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

You're spot on—both Esu in Yoruba tradition and Ekwensu in Igbo lore get unfairly demonized through colonial lenses that equated them with the Christian Satan. They're far more nuanced as trickster figures or agents of choice and balance, not embodiments of pure evil.

In Yoruba Ifá, Esu (or Eshu) acts as the divine messenger and enforcer of destiny, opening paths at crossroads. He embodies duality—helpful yet chaotic—forcing humans to confront decisions with real consequences, much like you described.

Ekwensu shares that vibe in Igbo cosmology. Often depicted as a warrior spirit or marketplace deity associated with contracts and cunning, Ekwensu doesn't coerce; he tempts with options in trade, war, or life choices. Missionaries twisted this into "Satan" because of his role in rituals involving oaths or vengeance, but pre-colonial sources like Igbo oral histories portray him as a neutral force testing resolve—win or lose based on your wisdom.

This pattern repeats across West African traditions: spirits like these highlight free will and karma-like repercussions, contrasting the all-evil Devil narrative.

What other deities or myths get similar misinterpretations in your view?
