Sadaqatul Jaariyyah - Endless Charities by ALMUSTAQIM(op): 7:00am On Dec 12, 2025
Assalaam Alaekum Wa Rrahmatullah Wa Barakatuh

*Sadaqatul Jaariyyah*
(*Endless Charities*)

Did you know that the Noble Companion *Uthmān ibn ʿAffān* (May Allah be pleased with him) has a bank account in Saudi Arabia to this very day?

🔹 What is the story of Bi’r Rūmah, the well that became a continuous charity for 14 centuries?
🔹 And how did this lead to the construction of a large Hotel near the Prophet’s Mosque that is attributed to him?

Here is the story 👇

After the Hijrah, as the Muslim population of Madinah grew, the need for water increased.
The well of Rūmah was the largest well in the city but it belonged to a Jewish man who sold it's water to people — even by the drop.

ʿUthmān (ra) offered to buy the entire well, but the owner refused.
So ʿUthmān proposed buying half of it: one day for him and one day for the Jewish owner.
The man accepted, thinking he would profit more.

But the surprise was that ʿUthmān dedicated his day to Allah — people drank for free on “ʿUthmān’s Day.”
So people took all their water needs on his day and avoided the day of the owner.
The Jewish man’s profits collapsed and he eventually sold the remaining half to ʿUthmān.

ʿUthmān bought it for 20,000 dirhams and made it a waqf — a perpetual charity — so the People could drink from it freely.

📌 Later, a Companion offered to buy the well for many times its price, but ʿUthmān refused, saying:
“Allah has offered me more… every good deed is multiplied tenfold"

*From the well to the Palm trees*

Over time, Date Palm trees grew around the well.
The Ottoman state cared for the area and later the Saudi government continued this care.
Eventually, the number of Palm trees reached about 1,550 trees.

The Ministry of Agriculture began selling the dates and the revenue was divided into two parts:

✓ Half for orphans and the poor

✓ Half deposited into a bank account under the name: *Uthmān ibn ʿAffān*, supervised by the Ministry of Endowments

*From the well to the Hotel*

As the account grew over the years, a plot of land was purchased in the central area near the Prophet’s Mosque.

Today, a large five-star hotel is being constructed on that land.
It is expected to generate around 50 million riyals annually:
✓Half for the poor and the needy

✓ Half added to the account of ʿUthmān (ra)

The most astonishing part?:
✓ The land is officially registered in the municipality under the name:
*Uthmān ibn ʿAffān* (May Allah be pleased with him).

SubḥānAllāh!
A trade and charity begun by ʿUthmān more than 14 centuries ago, and its reward continues to multiply to this day and to the future.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Every Prophet has a companion (in Paradise) and my companion in Paradise is ʿUthmān.”

We Pray Allah to Continue to Guard and Guide us Aright Protect us Have Mercy on us. Increase us in Knowledge Sustenance and Piety and Enable us become Better Muslims Better Nigerians.

Happy Jumaat, Happy Weekend.

SubḥānAllāh! 😮 It’s amazing how the good deeds of ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān continue to benefit people even after 14 centuries. Truly, sadaqatul jaariyyah shows how one act of generosity can keep multiplying. Makes me reflect on what we can do today that could leave a lasting impact for generations. What small acts of charity do you think could become the next ‘everlasting’ good deed?

They call it charity but its actually a down payment for your soul. The devil wants us to believe the lie that we can get good things for free and without a price to pay

Shukudi, you are on a Thread that talks about On going Charity that is act of Charity done that will continue to benefit mankind now and into the future.

You did not pen any word on that but rather talked about a certain "Truth" that you only see in your head.

I asked about that "truth" but you are quick to refer me to Google as if Google knows your mind.

Continue ooo.

One day you will find healing....

Dopemu, so you want Saudi Arabia to give their Oil free? But can you work for free? Which Nation of this world give their Resources Free? Do the Americans give things they produce free? Do your Ancestors give their farm produce free?

It is not a must to comment on every thread on Nairaland. If you don't have any idea what is being discussed, shut it and read comments. That way you will learn and broaden your horizon.
