NNPC Confirms Breach On Its Escravos-lagos Pipeline by Josepholome(op): 7:29am On Dec 12, 2025
NNPC Limited confirms an incident involving an explosion reported at about 17:50 hours on 10th December 2025 near Tebijor, Okpele, and Ikpopo communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State.

Initial observations indicate a pressure drop consistent with a loss of containment on an NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) pipeline. The cause of the explosion is still unknown but would be confirmed after a detailed investigation has been concluded. Our priority at this time is the safety of nearby communities and the protection of the environment.

Emergency response procedures have been activated, and we are working closely with relevant authorities and community leaders to ensure a coordinated approach to mitigate impact.

NNPC Limited remains committed to the highest safety and environmental standards.

Further updates will be provided as more confirmed information becomes available.

This is deeply concerning news, and the safety of the Tebijor, Okpele, and Ikpopo communities must be the absolute top priority right now. We sincerely hope the emergency teams can quickly contain the damage and determine the cause to prevent future environmental and human tragedies.

It's time we stopped using hunger as an excuse for crime...and no, government is not excused from doing its work. But many criminals don't enter crime because hunger.

Repeat of what they did during early Buhari government

It means it's the same people using the same strategy used to unseat Gen and troubled Buhari government at it again

Why they need insecurity, financial problems to campaign since they don't have past achievements while in office.

Why are we running pipelines from Delta to Lagos? What's happening with crude oil in Lagos State that can't happen in the states where the crude oil is pumped from??

Mtchw...

you are right but is still a factor and cannot be down play. Hunger may not pass the sufficient condition for crime but a necessary condition.

Most times when am hungry and see people eating or a restaurant were good aroma is emanating from I feel uncomfortable and want to have a taste... grin but when am filled it even irritates me.

A hungry man is an angry man and an angry man can pull any stunts without considering its consequences.

because we joke too much in this country...

How can you engage ex militant to secure Government infrastructure?

Federal Government negotiating with bandits..

And yet still searching for who are those financing terrorism in Nigeria...

Using Cat to watch over fried fish.. and wondering who stole the fish...

Funny government...

It may not be sabotage. Perhaps a technical fault.
But to hear Tantita's Christmas felicitations all the way in Abuja on radio is really funny... grin

Hmmm...their thinking is that the cat will feed so fat and grow so selfish it will fight off other cats. But I agree it is a cat-astrophe.

But why not just get a herbivore instead. A creature that doesn't eat fish.

Issues like this is the main reason why no company wants to do business is Delta.

Oil companies were there before but you lots over played your cards, kidnap, vandalism, now they ran off and government turned away.
Delta state receives more money than some 5 states combined yet they can build a deep seaport like Lagos, they are still waiting for FG to come and sweep their living rooms and bath their kids...

My point is Delta state is responsible for what has befallen her.
Both the Delta state government and the people of Delta state

To steal what exactly? gas? how do u do that? its more likely a case of sabotage, or if their intention was to steal product, then it was a case of ignorance.

Wow, this is serious 😔. Pipeline explosions are always dangerous—not just for the environment, but for the communities nearby. It’s good NNPC is responding quickly, but I hope everyone in the affected areas stays safe and that the investigation finds the cause soon. Who else thinks we need stricter safety enforcement to prevent incidents like this?
