Hey guys, I currently got ITA for health category draw. I used my banking experience back home for foreign experience and my current work experience in Canada in NOC 42201 which got me the ITA . Now I’m confused, am I supposed to also provide reference from my foreign work experience in Nigeria or can I just use only my work experience in Canada while putting in my application?
Please advise the best way to go about this as I’m a bit scared that my work experience in Nigeria the job description might not fit the NOC code I selected

Hello everyone,

Please, I need advice.

I submitted my passport through VFS Lagos on November 10, and it was received by IRCC on November 11.
So far, my application has not been updated and I have not received any message about passport return. My program is scheduled to begin on January 6, and I’m getting concerned.i have submitted many webform speaking of the delay but the tracker shows they’ve received them . But still nothing

For those who have experienced something similar:
• How long does it usually take for IRCC to update passport details?
• Is this delay normal?
• Is there anything else I should be doing at this point, or should I just keep waiting?

Note : i called vfs but the said it’s with iccc

2. Called ircc they said there is no update yet on my passport but they agreed to receiving it But ircc Ottawa said they can’t give me Much info on my application since it’s made outside Canada

Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

IRCC Ghana office takes an average of 6-8 weeks to process passports for visa.

Some have had their passports returned under 2 weeks while others, 2 months. There is nothing else you can do but to be patient.

Your question is not really clear. Did you use 42201 as the NOC for your banking experience in Nigeria?

Also, how many years of work experience do you have in Canada? If you remove your Nigerian experience from your profile, would your CRS fall below the minimum score for your round?

Answering these questions will help people guide you.
Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by Favouralltheway: 1:44am On Dec 17, 2025
No; I have 1 year work experience in Canada under NOC 42201. Then I have over 5years banking experience in Nigeria.
The health category draw I got the nomination for was for the NOC 42201 1yr experience in Canada.
If I remove my banking experience in Nigeria, my score will fall below the minimum score for my round.

If you listed it as work experience you will need a reference letter, if you are unable to provide a reference you can show payslips, bank statements and offer letters, Tax, Pension etc

It's not compulsory that your noc code matches each other, what gave you the invite is your 1 year work experience in Canada, even 6 months will still give you, nevertheless you must provide a reference letter for your banking job in Nigeria, it's a mandatory document.

Reference letter is compulsory, those ones you mentioned are just an additional document to proof the job.

It is not always possible to provide a reference letter. Some employers will simply not provide it.

Thanks guys for the response. Does the reference have to be very recent? I got a reference letter for the work experience before i left Nigeria from the bank in 2023? Can I still use it or does IRCC require a more recent reference letter.

You can use it (if it covers the period you claimed point for). But note that contact address might change for your work. Your manager/supervisor then might not be the same now in the case you provided a contact in your reference letter for verification.

Does this mean that the person git an ITA and now gets rejected?

It's important that your contribution here on this thread should be based on experience, hence you're going to mislead a lot of people that relied solely on the information provided on this thread for their visa application. It's okay to use AI/Google, but make sure it's right and tested.

Attached below is a screenshot of a rejection letter of someone that used the same information that you provided here. (Though not from you)

I understand you, but according to ircc site, they used the word "mandatory" which means without reference letter they won't accept the job.
