At least they have done something that Jonathan failed to do by removing subsidy and reviving two NNP refineries that have been exporting fuel since last year.

However, Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba language, also assured the crowd that though people were saying petrol price would hit N200, it would be reviewed downward under him.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as mere tokenism the reduction of petrol price from N97 to N87 per litre, saying the petroleum product ordinarily should sell for N70.

On Sunday, the federal government announced the reduction of petrol price, citing the fall of global crude oil price.

But the APC through Lai Mohammed, its spokesman, on Monday accused the government of making a show out of deceit, saying “a 10.3 per cent slash in the price of petrol was a mere tokenism at a time the price of crude oil has crashed by about 60 per cent”.

It argued that the pump price of a litre of petrol should not be more than 70 Naira, alleging that at N87 per litre, the government was forcing Nigerians to subsidise the massive corruption in the oil sector by N17 for every litre of fuel.

Even by 1956 Ironsi was a Major but 8 years later he was a Major general, simply because with independence most of the british senior officer had to be replaced with Nigerians and as such there was rapid promotions for middle level Nigerian officers. People like Maimalari, Ademulegun and Ironsi all had accelerated promotion. Gowon's case was following the Jan 66 coup where senior northern military officers were taken out, after the July coup he was practically the most senior northern military officer and the coupists wanted only a northerner, that was how Gowon came to be and his promotion was accelerated from Lt Col to Major General.

The military is built with a standard and it's a pity y'all are desecrating it. Buhari's ADC never enjoyed favouritism, neither did Jonathan's. As a fact the latter just became a Maj Gen this year after how many years Jonathan left office.


I knew the ADC as a Maj some years back. And I still know some of his coursemates on Major. It's a pity y'all will even politicize the military.

This kills morale and brings ineffectiveness.

Now, going by my little understanding of the military, though anyone should feel free to correct me.

If he became a colonel January of this year (2025).

That means his seniors with 1, 2 or even 3 years at the defense academy will still be at the rank of colonel. Because promotion will definitely take nothing less than 4 years assuming they pass all the exams and criteria’s.

So does that mean they will now pay compliments & take orders from him? Damn! with the way the military likes seniority and respect, this must be very painful to his seniors and course-mates
