Precedent is now set. Successive presidents have taken note.

On a second thought, why are our laws open to discretions and loopholes for circumvention?

Lawyers and others conversant with the law, could you be kind to educate us?
PBAT is not the first president to declare state of emergency in a state, former president OBJ did the same in Ekiti and plateau states respectively when he was on the throne.

Chai! Supreme Court these days has been totally emasculated by the executive power. Supreme Court has never been this controlled by any executive power since Nigerian history. Omo, Tinubu is very strong eeh. As a matter of fact, after Tinubu's exit from the office, he will sustain as a Godfather to the subsequent presidents as much as he wants, or maybe till his death. I comot cap for this man, his fist is very firm to hold anything.
When you study the judgement critically, you'll know that the supreme court is right. Power must have limit! The governors have immunity against any prosecution while in office. If rascality is also granted to them, then, one of this days, a governor can declare war on a tribe, or part of this country and claim constitutionality.
On the party of the president, NASS is acting as a check and balance.

The Nigerian Constitution has been reduced to mere written words that can be twisted to suit agendas. The lack of respect for the constitution governing an organization is the beginning of the fall of an organization that is bound to collapse.

From what I deduced from the Amala n ewedu judgement d President can instigated crisis i;e free for all fight in the NASS if they are not in his "good book" and declare STATE OF EMERGENCY on the elected representatives and senators suspend all of them for 6months which is subjected to extension as long as the president demn fit.Is this democracy?

It should be on records that a particular ethnic group destroyed this country as a result of greed and nepotism.

Continue to protect the interest of your kinsman over and above the interest of the country.

That's why he positioned his kinsmen in every critical and sensitive sector of the country, from military to economy, to judiciary, etc. continue.
The lead justice, Mohammad Idris is from which ethnic group? I don't get this your cry about ethnicity oh

Is this a country?

Is this a judiciary or waste of funds?

Shouldn't all these other arms of govt be seated at home while President Tinubu does all the job since he's doing it all alone na tele
It's simple. You don't like the supreme Court decision, GO TO COURT!!!

There's absolutely nothing special about him he is just taking advantage of nigeria's weak institutions and chaotic disorganised nigeria's political environment to consolidate power for himself someone like him can never rise to prominence or even govern a state not to talk of becoming president in a civilised country where things work properly.

As at when necessary, decisive action must be taken. We only need a good head working for the good of nation, the good of the masses and all members of society, and not for selfish interest.

Meaning, That a state of Emergency can also be declared in Lagos, and the activities of a tribalistic governor checked.
It's always good to set a precedent, it will come back to you, just a matter if time.

That fist you're referring to is empowered by citizens greed. He is only powerful due to his tendencies to buy anything that will be an obstacle. Remove greed from people he will be reduced to a man that can only hope a due process favour him.

Medicine after death. This is just ludicrous.
You don't know law.
By this decision this has become part of our case law. That's the importance.

The way our constitution is programmed , the president is so powerful with enormous powers and the only power he doesn't have is to give a person life.

The judges of the Supreme Court are making history. They are making Nigerian presidents more powerful than they already are.
The President needs to be powerful when you see the destruction that Terrorists and bandits are unleashing on Nigerians

Go and rest. Were they positioned overnight. When others were striving to be in charge of professions you were busy importing and exporting, buying and selling, clearing and forwarding. You forget that the professions control power. Power can reduce a billionaire trader become poor overnight by just one decision. Dey there de shout money 🤑 na water.
