Otti means business. May anything that sounds like Orji, Ikpeazu or Kalu never happen to that state again ever |

It makes me happy whenever I read something like this.. no matter how bad the country be, there are still people who are committed to making it work. Even if na just 100 people e go employ, at least 3 of those people will be able to stabilize their own life and possibly maybe empower another hundred people. Kudos to him for the acquisition. |

Importation of large volume of cheap finished paper killed the Paper and Pulp industry in Nigeria |
| Re: Abia State Acquires Star Paper Mills For N2.5 Billion by richiemcgold: 6:40pm On Dec 15, 2025 |
I've been saying this for years that we need to revive our paper mill industries. A country like Nigeria has no business importing papers from china, Thailand and south Africa. This is no doubt a good news for those of us in printing and publishing industry. Next to be revived should be our moribund textile companies. |
| Re: Abia State Acquires Star Paper Mills For N2.5 Billion by Jakpon: 6:40pm On Dec 15, 2025 |
unclejb2:All what Governor Otti said sounds nice but no mention was made in the article about how the Government would sustain the moribund Paper mMlls and Textile Mills the state wants to revive. How would the State Government effect legislations that would ban the importation of Paper and Textiles? Knowing that his kinsmen are the one that mostly import these cheap products from Asia into the Nigerian market, thereby hampering local production. |
| Re: Abia State Acquires Star Paper Mills For N2.5 Billion by Jakpon: 6:48pm On Dec 15, 2025 |
richiemcgold:This is the crux of the matter. The textile industry cannot be revived without banning the importation of textiles from china. The problem therein is that those who are mostly into this import business that actually k!lls local production are people from the Governors region. They would be the first persons to start crying about marginalisation jf the FG attempts to ban import of cheap textiles from Asia |

billyG:I had same question until I read this: The government’s role is to de-risk investments and attract capable private sector operators.” He then challenged the organized private sector, represented by the Umuahia and Aba Chambers of Commerce, to assume responsibility for running the revived industries efficiently. Honestly, Nigeria needs this in both the downstream sector and transportation, to say the least. |

Why didn't the private operator acquire it from AMCON? What kind of yeye fraud is this? What concerns govt with company acquisition especially one they didn't start on their own? |
