I love the judgement. Any governor that goes against APC will be suspended for 4 years. Finito. All the opposition parties are failures. I can't imagine any court giving this judgement during the time Tinubu was in opposition. He would have mobilise his agents to castigate the judiciary all over the tv stations

If those who believe they love this country more than everyone, and with their love for APC and this government are busy digging at the foundation of this country by supporting laws that can create a tyrant or dissolve this country, who are my to complain. Anything for the disintegration of an abusive and unholy matrimony.

Same PDP that removed four Governors including Fayose and Ladoja without returning them back to office during the misrule of Obj is now talking? Wonders has ended in Nigeria's situation oh.

Who wrote the law? Who were the lawmakers that passed it? Nigeria is a country of medicine after death, most lawmakers do not read or fully comprehend the laws or acts they pass, they're mostly there just to tick a box......SHAME ON ALL OF UNA!

I don’t think they need to obtain the consent of anyone.
They only approached the Supreme Court to interpret the law and determine whether the President has the power to suspend democratically elected governors and members of a State House of Assembly.

However, from what I can deduce here and to the chagrin of everyone the Supreme Court supports the president action describing it as “extraordinary measure to restore peace and order.”

This is very dangerous

This implies that the President can instigate chaos and anarchy in a State he doesn't like the governor by empowering certain individuals, as Wike was empowered to instigate a crisis in Rivers State and then suspend a democratically elected governor under the guise of restoring peace and order through an 'extraordinary measure.'
This is the exactly the fear I've been having all along.

A president can decide to instigate conflict in a state and use the excuse of a state of emergency to remove elected officials while installing those he's in bed with.

This is a dangerous precedent. And those hailing This now, I hope they'll also hail it when it happens in their states in the future.

PDP started this . It is a play straight out of PDP's playbook . They also failed to ensure other parties do not use it against them by amending the constitution to remove such ambiguity. If PDP gets into power again and the constitution is still not amended , I can guarantee you they will use it again.

All in all , na Nigerians dey suffer am pass

Lol, u must be naive if this is all u have to say. It's not everytime u play blind politics.

Tomorrow an Hausa President might instigate a quarrel between the Governor of Lagos State and the State Assembly, uses state of emergency to install one of his friends as an administrator. I suppose you'll be happy with that.

Gerrout from here with your nonsense hypocrisy, didn't President Obasanjo do same, if not worse in 2005?

Na today this political game start in Nigeria? He has the power to do, & he did it, the Supreme Court of Nigeria has ruled, so please go rest for one corner with your cold Hero beer.

Who's the hypocrite?

You should also read on what happened in Jos that led to the suspension of the governor in 2004.

For GEJ, he didn't suspend the governor. He was still in office, not removed.

Again, who's the hypocrite?

Exactly, u reiterate my argument why I deemed thee a hypocrite, u are fully aware that others had done it previously setting a precedent, so why were u playing the Hypocrite’s advocate, coming with one lamba story of what if others after Tinubu do it?

You are talking like Kanu. Abusing the highest judges of the land. Read the PDP statement very well. It is very clear that their concern is mainly the possibility of exploitation. They didn't abuse the judges but stated that the limits of such power should be clearly stated either by express provision in the constitution or further clarification by the supreme Court. I totally agree with them on this.

They know that they have done it before. It's not about today and the occupant of the office. It's about the future.

You must learn to read well and pick understanding. Operate with an open heart. That's the essence of education and exposure. I must not hate everything you say or do whether right or wrong.

We hereby call on the National Assembly to urgently initiate constitutional and legislative safeguards that clearly define and limit the scope of emergency powers of the president, to prevent imminent abuse and preserve Nigeria’s federation

Supported!
These were exactly what I earlier said.
I have issues with the PDP but I support the tone of the release. While the judgment is useful but limitations and definitions must be clearly made as requested by the PDP. This is to avoid abuse in future. It's not about the one that passed but the future that we don't know.

Supreme court judges how many of them do write judgement, nobody should blame them mediocrity has cordoned off the judiciary, majority of judges can not wrote judgements, they can only read whatever is handed to them by the AGF and SANs on the payrolls of APC.

Where were PDP people when Buhari and Tinubu were selecting most of the present Supreme Court and Appeal Court judges?

APC is prepared for one party system and dictatorship.

Atiku was busy preventing getting Igbo man as president of Nigeria through PDP. Every four years, Atiku would contest to prevent an Igbo person from clinching Aso Rock through PDP.

The supreme court shouldn't be the first court of instance. That said, the loophole used is that "extraordinary measure"... Those are the technicalities affecting us.

Therein lies the problem, how would a state governor have the integrity to go against the president if he knows that the president can legally remove him from office? Of course he'll acquiesce to whatever the president asks of him. Tinubu is setting a very dangerous precedent, if obj had done this SOE thing to him when they were feuding decades ago, would he have taken it lying down?
