A tragic incident has been reported involving a 19-year-old boy, Ikenna Onyebu, from Anambra State, who allegedly killed his elder sister, Chinwe Ofomatu, at her residence in Festac Town, Lagos.

According to available information, Chinwe had been living with her younger brother at her home on 403 Road, Festac, where she reportedly took responsibility for his welfare, including payment of his school fees and other expenses. Trouble reportedly began when Ikenna started associating with questionable friends and engaging in theft. Despite several attempts by Chinwe to correct his behaviour, the situation did not improve.

Sources say Chinwe eventually informed her brother that she would no longer sponsor his education and asked him to return to their village in Anambra State. After getting back to the village, Ikenna allegedly confided in a friend, identified as Nonso Okeke, 20, from Ichi in Anambra State. The two reportedly planned to travel to Lagos with the intention of killing Chinwe and robbing her.

It was gathered that they borrowed money to fund their journey and boarded a bus from Anambra to Lagos. They reportedly arrived in Lagos in the morning and went to Chinwe’s house at about 8:30am. On arrival, Ikenna was said to have had second thoughts about harming his sister, but his accomplice allegedly insisted, reminding him of the borrowed money and their plan to rob her.

Nonso allegedly entered the house first, with Ikenna following. Upon seeing them, Chinwe reportedly became frightened and attempted to raise alarm but was forced to keep quiet. While Ikenna was said to be engaging her in conversation, Nonso allegedly approached her from behind and strangled her with a wire, leading to her death.

After the act, the suspects reportedly searched the house and made away with jewellery, wristwatches, cash and other valuables before fleeing the scene.

Their escape was short-lived, as they were reportedly intercepted at a police checkpoint while riding on a commercial motorcycle. A search of their bags allegedly revealed ammunition, money, jewellery, wristwatches and other valuables. The suspects were arrested and reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.

Police were later led to Chinwe’s residence, where her lifeless body was recovered and taken to the mortuary.

The incident has sparked shock and outrage, serving as a grim reminder of the devastating consequences of crime and betrayal within families.

Don't be naive when dealing with relatives taking advice or hanging around evil people. Be wise around them because your life is in danger.

Same thing happened in US today where a drug addict son allegedly murdered both his prominent biological parents. He is now in custody as well.

Sending that boy back to the village while he was here without getting police involved was not good and not involving police in Anambra State when he returned to his village was a bad idea too. Both commands would have been helpful in monitoring him.

That boy knew too much about her and she should have kept a leash on him.

He is probably full of regrets but now it is government that has a leash on him.

Probably he was sent from the village to come and stay with the so called sister may be when he is seeing disturbing everyone in the village. This happened 20yrs ago....I knew the woman...the boy even died in police custody...he was arrested on a bike on 3rd avenue middle junction...
