Lofty promises allegedly by the Presidency and the national headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are some of the reasons why legislators, high ranking elective office holders and chieftains of other political parties are defecting to the ruling party.

In most of the instances, the defectors cite internal party wrangling or performance of the ruling government as reasons for dumping their political parties, under whose backs they rose to power.

Though political defections are not new in Nigeria’s democratic landscape, the rate and scale at which they have swept through the ranks of the opposition in recent months—less than two years into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration—have triggered growing concerns.

The way some in opposition complain about every little thing is pitiful.

Politics, anywhere in the world, is a game of tricks. Only in Nigeria do you see members of the opposition expecting the ruling party to be kind, meek, considerate, and selfless when dealing with them.

Nigerian opposition parties are like a football team who let the opposing team score several easy goals because its defense is poor, only to turn around to complain that the other team is wicked for scoring too many goals

It is APC's job to look for loopholes in opposition parties and exploit them. They're not there to feel sorry for you.

It happens in every country in the world. The PDP did even worse when they were running the country.

I won't be surprise. Tinubu is known to entice politicians with earthly things even the most righteous will find hard to resist.

Rumours has it that governors where promised over 10 billion naira for joining/ decamping to APC. Don't know how true this is but anything is possible in this manipulative government.

Nobody would have joined APC without being assured of automatic ticket and other benefits. They would have preferably stayed in PDP or move to ADC because the masse don't like APC, assume votes will count.
