Wike Hails Tinubu’s Appointment Of Prof Orluwene, UNIPORT Teaching Hospital CMD

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has hailed the appointment of Professor Chituru Godwill Orluwene as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH).

Wike, who also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for finding yet, another Rivers State indigene worthy of a federal appointment, said "the President has consistently demonstrated his love for Rivers State and its people, and we will keep supporting him to continue with his good governance."

In a statement on Tuesday, by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the Minister described Prof Orluwene's appointment as "President Tinubu putting another round peg in a round hole," urging him to use his wealth of experience to improve on the state of the Teaching Hospital, in line with Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also thanked the Coordinating Minister of Heaith and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, for recommending the appointment of Prof Orluwene.

"I congratulate Prof Orluwene on this appointment and urge him to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in UPTH to ensure the continued delivery of quality healthcare services to Nigerians," he said.

Tinubu never ever forgets his team. He carries every member of his team with him, that is why those that were with him when he was first elected Senator in 1992 are still with him till date.

So Wike is hailing another appointment as if it's a personal gift from Tinubu? Let's be real. This isn't 'love for Rivers State,' it's political patronage for loyalists. While they keep sharing positions like birthday cake, when will we see the actual 'good governance' in our hospitals?

UPTH needs more than a 'round peg in a round hole.' It needs constant electricity, basic equipment, and drugs that aren't expired. Let Prof. Orluwene fix that, then we can applaud. Until then, this is just another headline to distract us from the fact that people are still dying on hospital floors due to neglect.

One minute they're fighting, the next minute they're thanking each other for appointments. Our politics is a Nollywood script where the people are the suffering extras
