I plan getting a land next year to set up either Oil palm plantation or coconut plantation.

Please farmers in the house and those experienced in this, which is more profitable?

The real driver of profitability is effective farm management. While both options offer returns, oil palm farming presents a stronger investment case due to its multiple, scalable revenue streams. From palm oil extraction to palm kernel oil and palm kernel cake (PKC) for livestock feed, every stage of the value chain is monetized reducing risk, maximizing margins, and ensuring long-term, sustainable returns.

Dis one is directed to d farmers, but my observation might be oil palm

I think Oil palm is more profitable in the southwest because we Yorubas consume a lot of palm oil in our dishes

Unless you live in Hawaii, oil palm is bae 🤗

Oil palm is more profitable if you can exercise patience.

We have to know:
- the size of the land you are getting
- where are/is the land situated
- your technical experience of each crop
- how much capital you have
- and how long are you willing to wait before harvest

Just so you know, if you want to make money out of any crop-based agricultural venture, you need to be involved in the processing, and if you cannot, you need to be close to major off-takers.

Oil palm, Sir.

Look around if you can get Super Gene breed. It's short, starts fruiting earlier and yield is high.

Even the regular Tenera is still good.

But if your land size is massive and you have the funding, you can try a couple of acres of coconut alongside oil palm.

I had a cousin who went into Coconut farming, but he died just when the coconut trees were starting to bear fruits

Palm oil...... Palm oli is mostly use in soap and cream making apart from using it to cook. Don't know if coconut oil is also used in soap making

Sorry to say this question is inconsequential there is no comparising between Palm oil and coconut the difference is to clear for the blind to see and the gap is to wide to bridge. Palm oil is a major revenue generated income for many countries all over the world like in billions of dollars countries like Malaysia and Indonesia are testament to this. Coming back home, Palm oil add to the coffers of our national treasury than coconut. Many small scale businesses in our communities today survive on palm oil business inclusively myself. So please compare something that is closely related not coconut.

Coconut is better because you can always use it to drink garri anytime you are broke. You cannot drink Palm oil so it's useless.
