Successful Hosting Of Dr. Bethany Hall-long, The 75th Governor In Nigeria by Peoplesadvocate(op):
*OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT*

*SUBJECT: SUCCESSFUL HOSTING OF DR. BETHANY HALL-LONG, THE 75TH GOVERNOR AND 26TH LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE, USA ON A FOUR DAY VISIT TO NIGERIA.*

It is with profound gratitude and national pride that I, Ambassador Timothy Nwachukwu, SDG Ambassador and National Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Goals Council - Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Students Engagement, and Founder of Youth Advocates for Peace, Justice & Empowerment Network (YAPJEN), announce the resounding success of hosting a four-day visit, engagement and first International trip by Her Excellency Dr. Bethany Hall-Long, the 75th Governor and 26th Lieutenant Governor of the State of Delaware, USA, to Nigeria.

The delegation’s itinerary, meticulously coordinated in partnership with a wide spectrum of Nigerian leadership, was anchored in the shared commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). The outcomes of this engagement are both tangible and symbolic, underscoring the depth of Nigeria‑Delaware collaboration and the collective resolve to uplift our most vulnerable populations.

One of the highlights of Dr. Hall-Long's visit was her visit to an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Durumi Abuja where she witnessed firsthand the humanitarian challenges faced by the displaced persons. In a demonstration of her support and commitment to humanitarian causes, Dr. Hall-Long made a generous donation to the IDP camp, providing much-needed relief to the affected individuals in collaboration with the Dr. Nnenna Njoku, Country Chairperson, Women Economic Forum. This gesture was a poignant reminder of the importance of empathy and solidarity in addressing the challenges faced by our communities.

During her visit, Dr. Hall-Long held meetings with several high-ranking government officials, including the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, Senator Uche Ekwunife CON. These meetings provided a platform for discussing areas of mutual interest, including economic development, regional cooperation, and humanitarian affairs. The discussions were productive and insightful, and we look forward to building on the momentum generated during these meetings.

Dr. Hall-Long also had the opportunity to interact with Hon. Barr. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, the Minister of Regional Development and the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation with whom she discussed ways to strengthen collaboration between Nigeria and the State of Delaware in areas such as regional development and humanitarian response. Additionally, she engaged with the Spouses of Governors Forum and the Nigeria Air Force Wives Forum, sharing her experiences and insights on women's empowerment and leadership.

Dr. Long conducted a guided tour of the Centenary City project, witnessing firsthand the state–of–the–art master planning that seeks to transform Nigeria’s capital region. The visit culminated in the Empowered Women Summit, co–organized by the Women Economic Forum (WEF) Nigeria Chapter, led by Dr. Nnenna Njoku, in partnership with Women of Exception and the Progressive Next Generation Initiative (PNGI) led by Hon. Jeffrey Omoh. The Summit convened over 200 women leaders, entrepreneurs, and youth advocates to discuss gender equality, economic inclusion, and mentorship schemes for emerging female change–makers. The highpoint of the summit was the donation of two plots of lands to two indigent women and distribution of bags of rice to the women.

I would like to reiterate my gratitude to all the stakeholders and partners who contributed to the success of Dr. Hall-Long's visit. We are confident that the outcomes of her visit will have a lasting impact on our collective efforts to promote economic development, humanitarian response, and women's empowerment in Nigeria. We look forward to building on the partnerships and collaborations established during her visit to drive progress and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria.

Signed

Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu LLB (HONS)
National Coordinator,
Sustainable Development Goals Council,
Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Students Engagement/ Founder YAPJEN
