The Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) has criticised Nigeria for petitioning football world governing body, FIFA , over the alleged use of ineligible players during the 2026 World Cup playoffs in Morocco, insisting that the Super Eagles should not attempt to qualify “from the back door” after losing on penalties.https://guardian.ng/sport/football/nffs-petition-to-fifa-dr-congo-slams-nigeria-over-back-door-tactics/

Nigeria will qualify for the world cup. I won't be surprised if it was CAF and or FIFA that leaked it to the NFF because they need Nigeria at the world cup for revenue purpose only. But this Congolese used bad mouth to rubbish the so called super eagle ooooo. Omoh the finishing no be here wallahi. |

Nothing concern FIFA for how many passport the players hold. Sofar their national association processed their change of nationality. Nff should go and Siddon jare. |

This is so disgraceful from the glass house We had everything in our favour yet we still couldn't qualify, shouldn't the useless governing body be thinking of the damage their mismanagement of the team is causing the nation rather than trying to cause more problems everywhere Like say we go even fit cross the group stage with these set of sleeping players we have now |

| Re: NFF Reported Congo's Age Violations To FIFA by kingthreat(m): 7:53pm On Dec 17, 2025 |
Instead of them to build our local football leagues and get the best stars, they want to use the backdoor to qualify for something they don't deserve. Please let DRC go and do Africa proud. Even if this Nigerian team qualifies for the WC, they won't pass group stages. |

Interesting indeed. But it will be a miracle for this to scale through. |

Watch how Congo will smuggle Dual citizenship into their constitution. It's a tricky case for the NFF to win. Any country that does not allow Dual citizenship anno 2025 is living in dark ages. With globalisation, it should be mandatory. For some countries like Morocco and Turkey, you can never lose your Moroccan nationality irrespective of where you were born and how many foreign passports you hold. |

life is not fair, if anything favors u, abeg collect am- if na Congo see this loophole about Nigeria and they lost that game, they will milk it to the fullest …. trust me In 1996, Nigeria almost missed participating in Atlanta'96 Olympics men soccer event because Zimbabwe FA petitioned that our First Choice Goalkeeper then, Abiodun Baruwa was ineligible. Hmmmm - that thing hot that time, Zimbabwe fought it hard and dirty and we were very lucky to escape losing our qualification. Imagine if Zimbabwe had won their petition, there would never be an Olympic Gold Medal won by Nigeria in Men's Football Event. Nobody accused Zimbabwe of trying to qualify through the backdoor. And for those mocking Nigeria I have a little history lesson for you… In 1992, Denmark did not qualify for European Nations Cup but they replaced the then Yugoslavia who beat them to qualify because Yugoslavia was at war so they could not participate in the European Nations Cup Guess what? That same Denmark that did not qualify, who were just added to make the group numbers, beat pre-tournament favorites and 1990 Defending World Cup Champions Germany 2-0 in the Finals to win the Europeans Nations Cup in 1992. If the Danes had the attitude of saying they wont go to the European Nations Cup because they were not good enough to qualify, would they have won that trophy? So please lets stop mocking the Super Eagles. |

The onus lies on the NFF to proof their allegation. If they can do that, no problem. Whatever advantage the NFF can explore in order to be in the World cup is permissible, as long as it is within FIFA rules. These days, if you don't win on the pitch, then win from the courts, if you have an advantage 😎 |

IF CONGO BROKE THE LAW BY FIELDING INELIGIBLE PLAYERS WHILE NIGERIA FOLLOWED THE LAW AND LOST, THEN THE RESULT IS NOT FAIR. AFTER ALL NIGERIA ALSO HAS INELIGIBLE PLAYERS SHE COULD HAVE PICKED TOO! |
