This is why Nigeria will always move backwards. We are slowly watching an individual capture the whole energy sector of a country.

This refinery was built on subsidized dollars from Nigerian CBN. This dollars were subsidized by all Nigerians. It was built at 350 naira to a dollar.

Now that 1 dollar is 1500naira. Nobody can build a refinery of that size in Nigeria. And no foreign investor will come to Nigeria and build a refinery. Because you cannot compete with one built at a cheaper 350 naira to 1 dollar.( By doing this he has established a monopoly)

Now this new puppet NMDPRA CEO will dance to Dangote's tune and petrol supply will be monopolized by him.

In a country like China, if Government gives you subsidized dollars and import waivers a portion of that refinery say 30-40% will be nationalized. It will be owned by the people. Because Nigerians revenue was used to subsidize the dollars.

Dangote built the refinery at 350 Naira to 1 dollar but will now sell petrol at 1500naira to 1 dollar......Do you see the scam ?

What kind of business man only thrives on government subsidies, government concessions, import waivers and monopoly of the market ?

We cannot use corruption to fight corruption.
I'm tired and don't understand what you just typed, but it makes sense.

Even you will not agree to nationalise 30-40% of that refinery because it will die.
What happens to the other national refineries.

There is no country in the world. That relies on 90% of its petrol coming from one private businessman ?
Mention the country.
Do you know the hazards of giving the whole energy in a country to one single business man.....lol
Its absurd.

Me and you will complain of youths unemployment and when a patriot put all his life to create a business which others couldn't and be the only one doing the business, we will against the business and tagged it monopoly. What has happened to other 47 licence given to people to build refinery? They preferred importing rather than building theirs to provide job for youths and improve the economy. Would you have said what you're saying if you were employed in dangote refinery? Since when Donald Trump came to power all he has been busy doing is how to protect US economy by snapping tarrif on other countries recklessly and no American ever complained regarding that.

Sorry Sir
But are you aware NNPC owns 15% of the refinery.
Are you also aware Dangote in Nigeria's Largest tax payer
Do you know of the Dangote Foundation.
Are you saying Dangote should give government the refinery to manage so they can destroy it .
Dangote also built cement factories in Zambia and other African countries.
Would you rather be built the refinery in another country?
Lastly, Sir, what do you have against Dangote?

In all these, Dangote Refineries MUST not be allowed to become a monopoly.

Competition is good. That's the sure way for the citizens to benefit from lower petrol and diesel prices.

Tinubu must not play Dangote scripts. We have not recovered from the price of Cement.
Hope you know FG take 50% tax on cement 📌💯. Dangote has said this severally

Nigeria is moving forward. After Dangote refinery, BUA refinery is already in motion in Akwa Ibom state and Ondo state has given out license for the construction of another refinery. Enough of wasting time on NNPC refineries that are not working because petrol importers are sabotaging it. Tinubu is dealing with corruption his own way.

Dangote refinery was built with Nigerian Forex subsidies, and is now selling petrol at open market prices to Nigerians. Its 90% singlehandedly owned by Dangote.

Do you see the difference now ? I hope i educated you.
Hope you know lots of FDI was involved in building the refinery 📌💯. About 80% came from Europe

I completely understand your point. But we need to be careful not to accept a Greek gift. Giving Dangote monopoly of petrol in a country like Nigeria is not a good idea. Even if he has employed the whole Nigerian youths. There has to be strong independent regulatory oversight, which has nothing to do with Dangote.
For the refinery owner to have the regulator fired in 72 hours is bad optics. Because Dangote has just fired the people that will regulate him. Thats not how its done anywhere in the world
The Tariffs are to protect American Business, which are mainly publicly listed companies and not single companies owned by one man who puts all the profits in his pockets.

If Nigerians owned 40% of Dangote refinery and he owned the controlling stake of 60%. I would have no problem. But, with this singular action, we will lose all imports. He will raise the prices as soon as this dust dies down.
Then the next thing he will go after the other refineries. He will force them out of the market, by selling lower and a higher volume, till they pack up. He will also make sure no new refinery is built. Watch and see.

Use your brain. With all the stolen dollars, no Nigerian govt or Nigerian gave us a functional refinery. This man worked hard wether with subsidized dollars or not, he built the biggest single train refinery in the world.
Look at govt refineries with all the billions of dollars on TAM with monthly operating costs are still not working. If not for Dangote, Nigeria's forex would be worse and petrol is now refined in Nigeria which is a thing of pride.

. Anyone that want to compete with da Dangote should go ahead and establish his refinery. The sky is enough for everyone to fly.. .. BUA is already doing that..... and no one has chased him out. We have enough billionaires that can compete if they have the guts... Elumelu.... Ovia.. Otedola.. Adenuga etc. To continue to grant import licenses to kill local production is a simple No in this season. FG need to ramp up it's supervisory role in encouraging health competition and reduce monopolistic tendencies. We need to kick out cabals out of every sector in Nigeria...those guys are doing more harm by chasing out foreign investors.. .. No foreign investor can fight these cabals the way Dangote is hitting them hard.da
