NIGERIA UPDATE: “Let President Muhammadu Buhari Rest in Peace” - By: Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai - 17th December 2025 The recent launch of a book on the life and legacy of our late leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, has stirred deep emotions and renewed divisions among those who once formed his inner circle. Having followed the headlines and images from the event, I felt compelled to make a simple but urgent appeal: let us allow President Buhari to rest in peace.source

The book is dangerous political tool. |

festacman:Exactly. Tinubu will get to find that the book has cost him more political capital than he hoped to get. The motive is not lost on Northerners and true Buharists. It has backfired tremendously. What is it with them and usage of spouses for political gain. The other day, it was Remi asking Patience Jonathan to smile for the camera in Osun state while she sat there looking forlorn like she was forced to be there. Don't forget, it was Patience who declared support for Tinubu when Jonathan was clearly still nursing a comeback. |

Whatever his shortcomings was....we pray he meets his maker and answer to his sins. Tinubu isn't probing Buhari's regime or his ministers and I hope the editorials will let this to slide. Tinubu is capable and he's been doing just that and he picked all the pieces and building the country is his capacity..... Not minding Obi who talks like a baby was asked not to play with his peers.... |

It's good we know what happened in his govt. Even though most of these revelations we already know. It is for the benefit of those that didn't know that buhari was never in charge. I knew he was never in charge. |

President Buhari was far from perfect. Many of us who supported him expected much more from his civilian presidency. However, as someone who worked closely with him in opposition political, and governance roles for over a decade, I believe much of his administration’s shortcomings stemmed from the actions and failures of a powerful inner circle—relatives, advisers, and officials who did not always share his commitment to integrity and public service. |

Sir, I and most Nigerians don't agree with you on this. Buhari did not give Nigeria peace and should not be allowed to rest in peace just like that. In fact, Buhari's corpse supposed to be exhumed and made to apologize to Nigerians and thereafter given a death penalty by firing squad for several inhumane things he did. Buhari's wickedness, failure, nepotism and whatnot led to the untimely death of thousands of Nigerians, what about those ones, don't their lives matter? ![]() Note: Anybody saying we should not talk bad about the dead is a hypocrite and a very bad person. You cannot live a bad and terrible life even as a leader and still expect people to praise you or keep quiet about your evil when you die, that will never happen. There is nothing like respect the dead, you can only respect the dead people that lived a good and honorable life that also showed empathy towards others when they were alive When I die at my old age of course, please I don't want anybody to start lying about how good I was if I was bad, if you knew me as a bad person please say it out and pour out your heart, don't come and lie to my family that I was a wonderful man if I was a terrible man when I lived. |

Who can know a man more than the wife and the children? When you people created cabals within aso rock and sidelined his immediate family totally, you never knew it would turn out like this? The book dey pain those who taught they were untouchable during bubu time. Did you remember when Aisha buhari was accused of chasing away was it one of the popular cabals family out of the aso rock because they didn't only formed a cabal, but also brought their families in to dominate the aso rock even those that have nothing to do there. Whatever you do in life, remember that one day, people will remember you when you are long gone, and gather to discuss your life in secret and in open. Whatever you think you are hiding, will be made known. Mr integrity indeed. |

Help me understand please. What legacy did Buhari leave behind? Incompetence. Duplicity. Plausible deniability. Fulani terrorism. Tanked the economy Jonathan left him and shrunk our GDP. Surrounded himself with a viciously corrupt cabal. Unprecedented nepotism. Medical tourism. Buhari is easily the worst president in the last 50 years. |

Why won't you say that when you know that your secret in the regime will soon be out if the debate continues. All the evil people in PMB regime will be known to all Nigerians |

AMINDA:stop your blackmail, it won't work. It was blackmail like this that brought terrorism to Nigeria, any attempt to correct any wrong from a northerner is always followed with blackmail from northern sympathisers ![]() |

Regardless of who was there or not, the verdict of history and Nigerians can never be in Buhari's favour. He was handed a rare second and third opportunities to write his name in gold in this country and he carelessly frittered it away. So useless a man was he. Worse still, he replaced himself with something more disastrous. Never seen a human who's all-round horrible and incapable of any good despite multiple opportunities make ammends and better himself. |
