South East May End Up Not Having The Sixth State by oyichi(op): 6:05pm On Dec 18, 2025
The creation of one more state for the south east is a rare opportunity for them, an opportunity to attract meaningful development, jobs and more representation in the federal level but instead of them to look inward among their five states and carve out a state for approval, they opted to land grabbing, despite the people of delta north saying that they don't want to be lumped to the south east, they continued their fruitless dream by renting croud and inducing some people in the area to make it look like the anioma people are in support of the already failed project, the ibos should know that state creation has a lot of steps and there are rooms for court cases, we will drag this forceful union till that useless senator is kicked out of the senate for a more sensible person, imagine having to cross the river and drive through anambra state to imo state all in the name of going to your state capital, dear ibos, it will never happen and by the time we are done with this madness with you people, the chance of you having an additional state will be over

Despite the semblance in names and language between the itshekiri and yoruba, I have never seen the yorubas dragging the itshekiri, ibos, leave us alone, they will tell you your history but they don't know theirs

That was how Ijebus lost the state that Abacha wanted to give them on a platter of gold. Oladipupo Diya was an Ijebu man and was Abacha’s deputy then and he had convinced his boss the devil’s last born called Sani Abacha to give his people their state. Everyone in Yoruba land knows that Ijebu Ode is Ijebu’s meeting point and deserves to be the Capital of Ijebu state.

However, Diya was from Odogbolu a small and not unknown Ijebu town. Diya’s people held Diya by the neck that the Capital must come to them. Other Ijebu towns refused and insisted that it must be Ijebu Ode. That was how the Ijebu’s lost the state. Instead, Abacha created Ekiti state which unofficial capital is Agidi

Hello, State creation is not an emotional service, state will be created for south east because the leadership is serious about it. This is one of president Tinubu Legacy. Anioma State will be created but if it fails then we have Adada or Anim state. My personal sentiment have been to ignore any south south Igbo group because of identity crisis but logic will always prevail. Anioma State is more profitable to Igbo people in Delta state and South East at large but a state inside current South East will bring more developments to our people.

Stop talking nonsense. The national assembly already passed a resolution that one state should be created for the South-East, the only zone with 5 states, to bring it up to six like the rest. Some people thought that the Anioma area should be that sixth state.

The reality is that the only chance Anioma state has of ever been created is if it was zoned to the South East. Nobody in Nigeria, not the Northerners or South Westerners, are going to support the creation of an Anioma State that will increase the South South to 7 states while they stay at 6, and the South-East remains at 5.

So if Anioma feels like staying in the South South, which is their right, they have to forget Anioma state and remain in Delta State. Then the South East can explore other options such Adada state, Orlu state or Aba State

But nobody is going to support South South climbing to 7 states while others are at 6 states, and the South East remains at 5.
