It was better hearing a white man call the name shoddily without pretending to be of African ancestry than using people who are seldom connected the land asides the name or inherited blood. I remember while we were watching American Gods some years back, that African goddess being the embodiment of the Yoruba deity Osun. That lady wey been play that black Succubus. Lana1:Black Panther is one of the biggest films with Black African pandering I've ever seen. That's why I don't rate those movies that highly despite the worldwide hype. It's a similar problem I have noticed with Ryan Coogler films and one reason his films don't resonate much to me. It looks like cheap half @$$£d mimicry compared to the real deal. So when people where shout SINNERS was an ode to Africa, I couldn't catch the drift. Cos all I see was a facade that could only impress people who ain't deep in the culture. 1 Like |

This was back in the early 2000's so you could almost excuse their ignorance. They couldn't be bothered about their accuracy of their depiction of Africa and the various cultures on the continent. After all, Africa is one country Almost 25 years later, and they are still making silly mistakes. |

geezyk:Lmao.... So damn annoying bro. Seeing a Nigerian name but their accent sounds like an East African cosplaying a Nigerian or Ghanaian. There's this guy that always puts me off and is the poster boy for useless Nigerian accents anytime I see him on-screen. David Oyelowo. He's funny but when he's doing Nigerian accents, it just sounds performative and inauthentic in my ears cos I could hardly relate with a Nigerian speaking the way he does. Seeing him performing as an African is an easy way to make me tap out of that project. I don't understand how supposed Nigerian ancestry peeps will be giving someone South African or Kenyan accent for a Nigerian. Shït is just crazy work. I remember the brouhaha that year when Bob Hearts Abishola just came out. It was so popular online back then, I'm thinking during COVID. The few clips I watched and the nonsensical accent made me automatically hate it. Seeing Nigerians online hype that slop was a weird one for me. The only time a Nigerian accent or behaviour seemed believable for me recently would be this film earlier this year One Of Them Days. The igbo landlord still got the slight ting of weird accent but his was a little more subtle and you could tell, that one was probably still connected to naija in the form of probably frequently coming back home or was in touch with homies back here. Cos his accent was miles better than the trash I've been used to and they somehow got his Nigerian stereotype well, with our landlords always wanting money more than the welfare of tenants, refusal to do meaningful repairs and put the burden on newer tenants, eye service and the usual throwing your properties outside the apartment for late payment and eviction. 4 Likes |

Lol....I don't blame the posters complaining about Nigerian representation in Hollywood. Bastardization of our accent is a normal thing for Hollywood. Either we sound South African or East African. As for the clown stating "born identity" "born identity" indeed. Maybe the sequel was made in his village church. Born Identity- "Jason Bourne is born again!!" "Live by the gun, die by the gun!!" Joseph needs to get some sense. |

° Brodaman, What's so bad about our accent and what's impeccable English. This is why I love Korean and Asians, except those born and bred out of those regions, they really don't care. We should fight for right and correct pronunciation and enunciation of our language and accent not total removal. Koreans, Indians and others don't fight for Hollywood features, they make their moves and sell to the international not trying to join the international. Tell me quality cast that can represent us in Hollywood, even south Africa film self we never touch the helm of their garment na Hollywood we want enter. The Pitt....... 9/10 It's kinda funny, I've followed The Pitt right from when it was in development, scripted and in production only to get cold feet upon release (probably because I don't think I've watched or followed medical procedurals before). I started this some months back in September I think, and I really enjoyed the first two episodes. Then I got to the 3rd-4th episodes and that's where I started struggling..... That fourth one I tried like five different nights and falling asleep on every watch. I was about to come hear and slander this show some weeks back due to this struggle. Late November, I reckon I was in the right frame of mind to go back to it.....and damn, this show was a revelation!! I got hooked to the storytelling, the intensity, the pressure, the acting and top tier writing and happenings in the Emergency Room aka The Pitt. The characters were top tier engaging and a joy to watch. There's also the dark humour to boot. Despite the medical jargons you're choke full with, it was an eye opening experience how things works in a hospital or at least the American healthcare system. I can easily see why Noah Wyle won for Best Actor in a drama. Absolutely deserved as well as Catherine LaNasa for Best Supporting Actress. Top tier performance they both dropped as well as the entire cast. Can't wait for the next drama between Dr Langdon and Dr Santos —the overconfident b!@tch_. Somehow the coloured women in this show are the most beautiful and alluring. Damn. Dr Samira "Slo-Mo" Mohan is a damn beautiful woman. 😍 Even the Nigerian lady playing Dr Collins (too bad she won't be in S2). Beauty everywhere. One of the projects in recent history I'm thankful I went back to and gave benefit of the doubt. Easily the best show of 2025 and rightly deserved its EMMYS. To the show runners credit this was a Max production and not HBO as most think. And they retained the top tier quality of their sister station. Absolute peak. Truly HBO-worthy. So peak that HBO is actually going ahead to adopt this strategy across its production due to The Pitt's success. HBO now wants to make more top tier TV shows with 12-15 episodes per season and returning annually for new seasons. So, this is unequivocally a huge success!! 2 Likes 1 Share |

For me, the only time I enjoyed hearing yoruba accent was in Born Identity. When Akinwale Akinuoye Agbaje spoke Yoruba.
