He subverted the party heirachy to get Abure in so that Abure can give him free ticket.

Imagine 70,000 polling units across the north did not have LP agents mobilised because Aisha and co were diverting funds meant to mobolise party agents on the day of elections.

Then Obi went to convene an illegal NWC in Abia and from there sacked Abure so as to put in a fellow IBO man that will replace Abure and from there give Obi free ticket once again.

Abure went to court which recognised him as the real authentic factional leader and declared the Umuahi NWC illegal.

From there onward, both Obi and Otti began endorsing non LP candidates in first, Local government elections and later on in the Anambra gubernatorial race.
