I think most well to do Ibos live outside their region. Those one outside their region are what give false sense of importance.

South East as a region is so poor and have lesser economic activities in the real sense. Most economic attributes they attribute to them is from their fellow Ibo residing in other region and going back home for x y z.

Their consumption is actually outside not inside the region.

So if their official population is 100 for example, over 30 might be outside that region already and those 30 have more purchasing power than the rest of the 70 remaining at home.

You are absolutely correct. There will be a false result on the amount distributed if Lagos and Rivers aren't on the list. But the bone of contention is the amount generated even after removing Lagos from SW and Rivers from SS. Emphasis on the amount generated not amount distributed after the removal.

In the other thread ACF was complaining of magilisation but look at their contributions to the national purse yet they collected far more than what they contributed.

But the investments can not generate what Oyo state is paying in VAT?.

It is what you produce and sell that you pay VAT from. If you produce in Oyo, VAT paid is credited to Oyo. Hotels pay VAT for instance, can it be credited to another state?. It is only the telecoms companies especially that people say the VAT should not be credited to one state

Do you understand the impact of this VAT on the lives of ordinary people in those regions? I mean 4 a struggling economy with 80 million unemployed people,you are happy that VAT is increasing the cost of living? Going by this VAT statistics that means its better for me to live in the SE than SW or SS because the cost of living is low. This is not something that should be celebrated.

FG is going about to collect VAT. The VAT collected in any state is indicative of the GDP size. If your VAT is low then your GDP is also low but it can also be that your economic activity is not VATable

Traders don't pay VAT. That is true and trading is a very big sector in places like Onitsha
