Baba Fela Set To Receive Grammys Life Time Achievement by Omoawoke(op): 4:21pm On Dec 20, 2025
Of course this is long overdue…

The king of Afrobeat! The GOAT ! Abami Eda himself Fela Kuti is getting his Grammy awards of a lifetime influence for creating afrobeat.

In a serious country, Fela Kuti should have been immortalized but I know that will still happen one day. Fela Kuti is a real hero for not only Nigeria but the entire Africa.
He deserves a special recognition. Normally, the federal government should declare a public holiday to recognize Fela and erect a big statue for him and establish a library for him.

Baba had seen the regimes before he died. That is why Baba Fela’s lyrics still match what is happening today

Well-deserved!

The man, Fela, is a legend.

He was so highly critical of the Nigerian military authorities that he was continuously hounded until the last day of his life.

He consistently stood on the side of the downtrodden Nigerian people.

The Black President himself!

“The worst illiterate is the political illiterate, he doesn’t hear, doesn’t speak, nor participates in the political events.

He doesn’t know the cost of life, the price of the bean, of the fish, of the flour, of the rent, of the shoes and of the medicine, all depends on political decisions. The political illiterate is so stupid that he is proud and swells his chest saying that he hates politics.

The slowpoke doesn’t know that, from his political ignorance is born the prostitute, the abandoned child, and the worst thieves of all, the bad politician, corrupted and flunky of the national and multinational companies.”

The ranking placed Nigeria in 186th position, only after Haiti, among 187 countries of the world. Nigeria also ranked worst in Africa. Nigeria’s low voter turnout

How long did it take for the messages of Christ and Mohammed to have meaningful impact on the lives of people, through the way that they relate with the Unknown God preached to Athenians huh

By the way, what are you doing to make Fela’s message have an impact sooner rather than later? Abi you don’t see any value in the message?

Now this is well deserved.

Aside the music, Abami Eda was a maestro when it comes to handling musical instruments too unlike most of our artistes today.

Re: Baba Fela Set To Receive Grammys Life Time Achievement by AllBlack: 5:01pm On Dec 20, 2025
Fela deserves it. His sound will outlive many of these new guys.

But it is time for Africa to come up with an award system that is well suited to accommodate all the musical styles we have over here instead of looking up to hear our name mentioned at grammy like they are doing us a favour.

I will forever love Beasts of No Nation. The lyrics still reflect what is happening in Nigeria this very day.

"Animal can't dash me, human rights. Animals must talk to, human beings'.

One of the greatest Africa produced.

I am happy and proud to say I lived in the times of the Likes of Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

Modified:
What if Fela had gone on to study law?
What if Chinua Achebe had gone on to study medicine....

Sometimes being exceptional means you have to be abnormal. You have to be "Above-Nornal".
Unfortunately many are afraid to follow the new path

The kind of support Bob Marley enjoyed in Jamaica during his music days, I wonder how great it would have been if Fela enjoyed similar support in his country. In Fact, his number one opposition was the military government of that time. SMH
