I believe both would have been the best in those field also...
They were naturally brilliant
I beg to differ.

A great painter would never be the best in engineering.
Imagine me being a good doctor. Never possible.
I was wired for engineering from birth. I see it in one of my sons too. He opens things and his mother thinks I favor him because I don't complain when he breaks things but I understand him, I was there. I wanted to know how every machine works.
I understood the working system of a car long before I could drive.
I started driving at 13 and I was driving a 1979 Peugeot 504... I could never be what I am today as a doctor.
Something happens to me when I look at a machine

The greatest ACTIVIST and MESSAGE music artist, you mean.
If it's purely music, Fela was not even up to Burna, Davido. All those people you mentioned you see people listening to their music worldwide today. How many people do you see listening to Fela's songs?

He's being overhyped unduly

He did not create it but introduce it.
It then went down to the new modern artists then(tuface, psquare, etc) to make it the real afro-beat.

You need to understand English well before you can comprehend what i just said.
Am not mocking you pls.
Thank you.
ManOfSon:
When people say Fela created Afrobeats, what exactly do they mean? He only adapted afrobeats to his gennre of music - a fusion of highlife and jazz. He didn't create afrobeats, which is a five-beat sequence indigenous to most of sub-saharan Africa that existed long before Fela started his music career. And before you start arguing over nothing, I'm a huge Fela fan. I'm also a music collector. I have in my music library most of Fela's songs dating back to his days with the Koola Lobitos in the 1960s.

Forget all those things you saying.
To the guy you quoted, i want to answer him.

When you divide the activism from his musical strength, then you are not being fair. It was his activist style which was blended into his music that made him stood out. So you made no point actually with that your comment.

Why did you think people loved tupac, it was because of his activism quotes in his music. He relates with you when talking in music. Notorious B.I.G was a good rapper than tupac, but he raps about girls, clubs, money, so people didn't take him so serious, but he was good, but tupac was loved more.

And, fela originated most musical pidgin slangs that present musicians are still using till now, though not like dat. But he was good with pidgin slangs which a good number of nigerians still use to communicate in their homes.

I was initially like you some few years back. I was thinking why fela was worship like dis too much, because i felt his songs were boring.

I was at my workplace one day, and the bar behind our business-place was playing fela jamz, i listened for a good amount of time. It was then i realized the nigga was really captivating and mesmerising with his songs. He is the best Nigerian singer to me.

Well you can still have ur own reasons why you think so for him.
I appreciate.
DiarisGodoo:
He'd play boring instrumental no one cares about for 95% of the song. Notice no one has copied that

Apart from his activism i can say for a fact that fela is so overrated musically
You don’t understand good music and may never ever do…

His soundtracks and music are still being copied today

Na Fela you talk say Dey overrated when burna boy started his career by copying his music…?

Do you realize he made his music with his own soundtrack produced using drums, piano, shekere, saxophone without the modern sound system we have?

You are really lost

I responded to a story where someone said he "created" it. You're now telling me that he didn't create it, he only "introduced" it. What exactly did he introduce? The five-beat sequence that I talked about? But how can someone introduce something that was already in existence before he was born? And somehow you're the master or mistress of English and of comprehension, right?

Una too dey do rivalry.

Oliver go still queue behind Sunny Ade, Ayinla Omowura, Ayinde Barrister just to mention a few. Ev
How can this be rivalry when this guy clearly said he doesn't understand Igbo yet his music appeals to him. The guy you are attacking may even be from same region as you. Your brother

And he said " those guys made music" which may even include all these people you listed.

But in your haste to launch tribal attack you missed the guy's point.

Let's take these attacks easy.

Take time to read people's post and make effort to understand them.

It's a small world still !

Please don’t listen to him, he has little or no knowledge about music. Fela was a Multi-instrumentalist. He played virtually all the major musical instruments. He was the one who directed his band, taught everyone what to play.

How Many instruments can The likes of Burnaboy etc. play? The present day artistes relies solely on producers who uses softwares such as FL studio to produce beats and all.

Have you listened to the permutational scale patterns of his instrumentals, so pure!

Fela was a Musical Genius, a musician, Burnaboy and his likes are Artistes, though I respects their art too!

I’m actually a multi-instrument musician (keyboard, lead and bass guitar) so I know music that’s why I could explain these.

How dare you compare Tupac to Fela musically. Fela was simply not that good at composing songs. I never said he doesn't deserve to be celebrated. He deserves even more - WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE TOTALITY OF THE MAN!
But if you say only music the man was simply not that good and he probably knew it hence 95% of his songs were instrumentals. And you are comparing that to someone who'd spit catchy, meaningful words for 30 minutes straight!

You couldn’t have said it better…

What of his stage performance! It’s just too electric! Too terrific to be associated with normal, he’s from another dimension!

Fela is beyond wonders! Those who don’t even know his songs are the ones thinking he’s an activists, and those who listened to his soundtracks, and think it’s trash definitely should not have anything to do with music

with the trash that he was singing after abusing substances abi ?

If fela is worthy of that achievement, then Hitler should be given a lifetime peace award.

Stop rating the unrated.
Your likes are unfit to understand what good music is all about if you ever call Felas music trash..

Till date, his musical is still being used in Hollywood movies and your current artists still borrow his soundtracks to use.

Of course you will never ever understand, like never ever… rather than arguing, why don’t you just use your phone to go back in time and see some of his stage performances or google the movies using his soundtracks or modern artists that still stealing his songs to reproduce theirs, or just do yourself a favor and listen to tracks like beast of no nation, sorrows tears and blood, zombie

Please don’t embarrass yourself
