Please how did you resolve this, I am in the same mess right now 😭

Hi,

I made a visa payment on the AVITS portal two weeks ago via online transfer to First Bank Direct, but the payment is yet to be confirmed, and I am unable to book an appointment. I have raised a ticket on the AVITS portal with no response, sent emails to nigeria@usvisaappt.com and LagosNIV@state.gov without receiving feedback, and contacted the First Bank Contact Centre, providing all the necessary details, but still received no assistance.

I also entered the reference number and date under the bank deposit details, which showed "bank details updated successfully," but the page then redirects back to "generate deposit slip." I have also called +234 201 343 8900 all to no avail. Does anyone know how long it takes for Visa payment confirmation on the AVITS Portal?

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is there anything else I should do? I would appreciate your assistance.

Good evening, everyone. Could someone kindly explain what the new U.S. restrictions actually mean? Does it imply that visas will no longer be issued for the affected categories? Also, if someone already has a scheduled appointment for a visitor visa, how would these restrictions impact that? Please help clarify what the restriction truly entails. Thank you

Is there anyone who has gone for H1B stamping recently or have a visa appointment between now and 31st of December?
Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by JohnZak: 6:57pm On Dec 17, 2025
The U.S. embassy will soon post guidance on how these restrictions will impact new visa applicants, just like they have done in the past. You just have to be patient.

effective Jan 1st 2026, visas would not be issued for these categories because you are banned from travel ENTRY into the US

It’s an official order Efe

https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/12/restricting-and-limiting-the-entry-of-foreign-nationals-to-protect-the-security-of-the-united-states/

It’s clear that Nigeria is banned from non immigrant visa type eg B1/B2, F1 etc

They also made it clear that previously issued visa remain valid but I will recommend that everyone travels with caution, even if you have the visa.

I also believe this will be temporary and will be negotiated.

The news circulating is just a personal wish from President Trump, and when it becomes a policy or law it would be posted officially on the U.S. embassy website, and that is if the white house voted in support..

That being said, Nigerians can never be subject to a total U.S visa ban, so disregard all the panic news that is being spread by promoters of schengen/European visas.

If the wish of Trump is voted in, what will happen is that, normal visa applications will continue but visas will only be given to those who have been verified as genuine travelers.

For example, we have Nigerian doctors, professors,artist/musicians, parents and children, Nigerians who are married to americans with kids, etc or who have dual citizenships. Dont also forget wealthy industrialist /business men like Aliko Dangote, Otedola, and many unknown wealthy Nigerians who have businesses inside the United States.

Ask the people posting panic news that " what would be the faith of these category of Nigerians 👆

Good day. If this partial restriction is confirmed, what is the recommended approach for applicants who already have visa interviews scheduled for January, February, March, or thereabout? Should they consider cancelling or postponing or abandoning the appointment since it may result in a technical refusal due to the restriction? This will help avoid unnecessary expenses and the risks associated with travelling from Lagos to Abuja for an interview that may likely be denied. I just want people to get a clear picture of the implications. Thank you

Sir, I agree and understand that it came directly from president Trump, even to the extent that BCC can haired the news. I know its on white house website. My argument is that, it will still be debated in the white house and if agreed generally, it would become official and posted accross U.S. embassies website.

I am always neutral in all politics, and i am a Nigerian, therefore , i understand people's fear but, some agents are twisting the news by causing general panick. Many Nigerians can make a huge life-decision-error which can cost them their lives, huge money or life progress.

The above is the reason i usually address hasty circular. Thank you sir. [/quote]
Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by IvoryT: 3:14pm On Dec 18, 2025
Many thanks. I completely agree, there should be a formal communication to this effect.

I will not advice anyone to cancel or reschedule his or her present appointment. That would be to die before their deaths. Besides, all affected parties can never be technical refusals, otherwise, the U.S. embassy must refund all mrv payments because their action would be interpreted to a rip-off.

Hello everyone, I’m planning to apply for a B1 visa for my mom and older brother so they can attend my graduation in May 2026. Do you think it’s still possible to get an interview date around April 2026? Also, would you advise going ahead with the application despite the new visa ban?
Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by ObodoNaija(f): 12:28am On Dec 22, 2025
Anyone know of any B1 visa WhatsApp group I can join?
Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by welf99: 1:39am On Dec 22, 2025
Wait for 180days, a review will probably takes place after 180 days, either a total ban or removal of ban!

Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Endoscope: 11:39am On Jan 07
Good morning ,

has anyone attended or knows anyone that attended a B1/B2 visa appointment in Lagos since January 1? what was the outcome ? Are they turning people back at the gate or let you enter to waste your time ?

I am asking because my mum has an appointment on the 15th January, in Lagos and we are thinking of just cancelling it as i get the impression it would just be a waste of everyone's time. Appointment 1.5 years in the making that we have been waiting for.

Interestingly, you can still book appointments in Abuja up until March/April 2026 , but only until January 16 in Lagos , even though Uncle T has banned everyone which is bizarre. Why offer appointments if there is a ban?

Anyone with recent experience or insight and happy to share ? This will be most appreciated.
