SmartyPants:+ How not? In the first place how does it happen that a person in his position does not have a copy of what was passed. If the president needed advice on it before signing is he not the one who should have digested every clause of what was passed already? How does it make sense that a clause not passed yet by the relevant committee is out in the public? Then how does he say that he does not know what's up, if the president has signed it, that should be a public document already, not so? And how can he say he doesn't know what's different between that and what was passed when he of all people should have a copy of that. Then look at these horribly contradictory and bizzarre statements - 1. "we have what has not been gazette. We don’t have what was passed," What on Earth does this gibberish mean? 2. “It should be the House of Representatives or Senate version. It should be the harmonised version certified by the clerk. Even me, I cannot say that I have it. I only have what was presented to Mr President to sign.” What is this? Should there be a difference between the version certified by the clerk and the version signed by the president? |

NybenSBF101:Tax evader . What is fraudulent about it? It is a known fact that human beings hate change, people like yourself who love the status quo, & add no benefit to society, speaking with both sides of your mouth making up excuses because u do not want to live up to your statutory obligation of paying your taxes. |

Burob:Oga, stop excusing illegality and fraud. Why would the executive transmit the tax bills to the house for legislation, review, inputs and approval to become law. The National Assembly did the painstaking job over a period of time involving public debates on it. They came up with a final draft and sent it back to the executive government for President's assent. Then the executive government decided to alter it and Gazette the altered version. That is fraud. That is an indication that we can trust the government. That is grave and serious fraud. |

ogododo:For all I care, this is damage-control effort from the executive government of Nigeria. The gazetted copy is fraudulent. Investigate the culprits and punish them to serve as deterrent to others that may want to try it in future. How can you doctor the bill that the national assembly processed and approved? What an effrontery! |

If it is true that the executive criminally altered clauses of the tax laws after they were passed by the National Assembly, then this is a grave assault on our democracy. Such a law has no moral or constitutional legitimacy. The implementation of these altered laws should be immediately suspended pending a full, transparent investigation and resolution. Nigerians deserve laws made openly, not rewritten in secret. |

Burob:Are u alright? There are duties from govt too and I am worried about govt not providing me with their own responsibilities and u wnt me to perform my own civic responsibilities? Them swear for una for this country? What measures have been put in place to ensure our tax dont get varnished? I have been paying various tax all my life in this country, where are they? Why dont I have good roads? proper health care, electricity, water and security? Why? I have contributed massively to govt. Or do u think u are talking to a novice? Come, some of us are way more learned than u all. There are various tax and income tax is not the only tax. Govt makes mad money alone from my bank charges. They make crazy money becus I am constantly using my bank. I dont want to talk about VAT. Each time I fly, I spend heavily on VAT which is included in my flight and everywhere I shop. So, I have been paying tax baba. I am asking, why is my tax being looted by few elites? So, I should keep quiet and watch few men who never made a dime for me, use my money to buy houses in London? Come, all of us arent mad. If u like make 100m, it is none of my business. I am saying, govt do ur part from what I have been paying all these years, then I will do more. Period. How much did they make from facebook alone as VAT. That is part of my money becus i run ads on fb. |

Exactly my feeling on this discordant response of Mr Oyedele. Who published the version that was gazetted? Fish them out and send them to prison for falsifying such important record if your office is not part of it. aworatak: |
