All this people that gave never ran anything in life other than government business, they are like agbero, all they know is to sit down and tax rather than do the business themselves.
This market they talk about already exist, government has no business involving itself, the recycle market is there, abi how have old vehicles been disposed of over the years? Have they not heard of katankowa or owode onirin etc? You have any end of life car, you call them, they come, pay you and carry the vehicle away. Useful parts are sold in their junkyard, the remaining iron is recycled. Which one is government comminh out to say people will pay fees during registration for future recycling?
Rubbish stupid people just sleep wakeup and get new ideas of how to frustrate Nigerians.

I saw it since yesterday, decoded not to post it. As long as everyone standing on his mandate will pay too, I have no problem. Government is not just reducing your purchasing power, but squeezing you to thin. Tinubu is taxmaster. He did it in Lagos. Anyways, I don't see him beyond 2027. grin grin grin grin
.
Tinubu will handover to his anointed successor in 2031, no human or spinal can stop him

Good initiative. But the fee should be minimal to avoid burdening vehicle owners.
Evidence of quacks appointed to positions they should never occupy, evidence of haphazard policy and possibly evidence of people just looking for money making schemes.

The governments first priority IMHO is making sure Nigerians understand the highway code.

People park in roundabouts, at junctions, trucks drive on the fast lane, drivers who aren’t overtaking not only hug the fast lane but many break down on the fast lane.

The fact that the majority of Nigerian drivers do not know the highway code is a bigger danger to motorists and road safety than rickety cars.

Relax, it’s Tinubu that’s in charge or do you think the Tax is to enrich himself?

Tinubu is too old to be seeking money he’s already got.
He’s already got the money from TAXing Lagosians to death for 26 years, without employing workers to make ordinary water available to all households huh

[quote author=Lanrelagboi post=133655707]Lagos has now crossed the 3 Trillion Naira annual budget mark. Crossed 2 Trillion in 2024.

Memory Lane: the first full-year Lagos State budget (Year 2000) in the 4th Republic was in the region of 40-something billion Naira. And it was described as “unprecedented” back then.

IF Tinubu wins in 2027, Nigeria would look like HELL and Nigerians would DESERVE it.

This is a government of ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY marked with a level of INSECURITY we've NEVER seen before in the history of Nigeria.

YET Nigerians are being gradually STRANGLED under the weight of MULTIPLE taxes.

First, he removed fuel subsidy. So motorists have to pay MORE for fuel. And non-motorists have to pay more for FARES.

NOBODY knows where the savings on fuel subsidy is going.

Then, he FLOATED the Naira and car importers have no option but to pay what was previously considered BLACK MARKET RATES to import cars and car buyers have to PAY through the NOSE to buy 15-year old cars.

Then, there is the Tinted Permit which is basically another form of TAX.

NEXT year, the 5% SURCHARGE (read tax) on all fuel purchases would likely be implemented.

Then, they'd TOP it off with another TAX in the form of Motor Recycling Fee.

In addition to that, he also wants Exporters to pay for a PRE-EXPORT Certificate which will definitely be passed on to Importers who'll pass it on to Final Car Buyers.

This is ALL in addition to the 7.5% VAT you'll need to pay when you buy a car.

To buy and own a car next year, you'll NEED to sell your kidney, your mother's kidney, your father's kidney and your Grandma's kidneys too.

ONLY good thing is that your Village People would AVOID you 'cause they won't like the way you'd be eyeing their kidneys too.

Tinubu is trying to MURDER Nigerians!
it should be when Tinubu wins....

since like 2 years ago people in UK now pay vat on baked food like pastries.

What the global mafia government has been doing with tax in last few years is like what mafia does with protection rackets in those mob movies. They are going through the list of everything and taxing the will to live out of people all over the world.
Your reward for hanging around to pay their tax and staying ahead of their inflation is a society heading towards pure Satanism at speed of light.

They said your conscious experience in life is where one foot of the universe meets the ground, Like diamond and gold are made out of material that has suffered the most immense pressure and heat , as such they are doing the work of the universe.

Turn their depression into positive motivation, they are forcing you from materialism into to a spiritual being , that's their job, as they threaten to take every single material thing people care about including hope in life and life itself caught between bandits , taxes and inflation all from the same people.

Taxing Lagosians to death and yet your brothers still troop into Lagos like banished criminals. If taxation of lagosians is what makes Lagos the centre of commerce and business, with foreign investors trooping into Lagos daily, that tells you taxation is the beginning of development and growth. Nigeria is in that Era and if you cannot accept it, pls move to Bukina Faso or Saudi Arabia where there’s no Tax.

Re: FG To Introduce Mandatory Vehicle Recycling Fee From 2026 by stokfrick: 1:51pm On Dec 22, 2025
Thieves in government.

They said they needed to devalue and make our naira valueless and also remove fuel subsidy in other to generate more funds as this will make lives better for Nigerians economically.
Almost 3 years down the line after taking the above actions, the money generated has been looted(no accountability) with nothing to show for it and Nigerians are economically worse off and seriously struggling financially, no more middle class.
You enjoy nothing as a citizen, no free education, no free/quality healthcare, you source your own electricity, bad roads and worst of all, serious insecurity everywhere.
Yet they want to rip off the citizens the more all in the name of tax reforms.
Fix the country and provide the basic social needs to make life better for your citizens just like it's done in other countries where the citizens willingly pay tax, provide 100% transparency in spending public funds and strengthen our currency,
Then you'll not need to threaten the people to pay Tax.

At what point since before 1914 when Lagos became amalgamated Nigeria’s capital, were people not trooping to the city?

Is it when the Nupes settled in Oshodi? Or when the Bini kingdom reigned over the lagoon from Iga Idunganran huh

Once they start paying heavy tax for illegal parking, they will adjust and if they don’t, their driver’s license will be seized with one year driving suspension. That’s the power of reform.

First build sewage system all over Nigeria. It's recycling as well. Saner leaders start recycling process with sewage systems, not by taxing car owners from recycling.

Beyond the accountability and transparency, we also have the absence of well paid government employees to make common services and public utilities available for everyone.

Common services and public utilities like free education for all children.

You have spoken well but Nigerians are that type of people that engage themselves in a battle they can't win, they love to suffer and suffer they will.

Watch how they will come out enmasse in 2027 to vote for their oppressor. Hell, some of them will even offer their life just for their beloved party to rule and eventually become a one party state.. The sufferer enjoys suffering and will even aid the sufferee to help make them suffer the more.

The power belongs to the people, I belive this, elections can be rigged, fine but only when the margin is minimal, let people vote aggressively for a change and see how easy it will be for their choice candidate to win but nah, they want to suffer like I said earlier.

Bro, Nigeria is gone and can and will NEVER recover in years to come. People don't yet realize how bad things have gotten but body go tell everyone in years to come. Gbam!

Isn't it rather funny that the things you complain about Tinubu are the things that are making Obidient me want to start liking Tinubu, lol.

"First, he removed fuel subsidy", which pleases me because no where is it written that you must drive by government's sweat.

"Then, he FLOATED the Naira", thereby eliminating a parallel exchange where some get a preferred rate that most of us can not get.

And "NEXT year, the 5% SURCHARGE (read tax)", and indeed tax, and for fixing our rubbish roads and to deter us from importing made in tokunboh junk when we should be creating jobs by making in Nigeria.

But you see all this as murder, when I see it all as making us responsible.

You see, less than 30% of us Nigerians went out to vote at the last election, and less than 9 million elected the president while the rest of us sat on our asses at home and couldn't be bothered, but now moan when the elected president sticks his filthy fingers in our pockets and takes our hard earned money as tax he's not accounting to us.

These policies of his will wake us up to be more responsible when the next election comes so like 80% of us might get off our asses and bother to vote in someone we prefer. Or of course we can continue in our irresponsibility so Tinubu taxes us some more.

Tinubu might indeed be "trying to MURDER Nigerians", but the choice of dying is completely entirely ours!

to cut the long story short,

Starting in 2026, the Federal Government of Nigeria plans to formalize the country’s informal vehicle recycling market through an End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) programme. This initiative is projected to generate over N150bn in annual revenue while addressing environmental and safety concerns.
Key highlights of the reform include:

Recycling & Revenue: The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) will implement a circular economy model where vehicle owners pay a disposal fee at registration. Over 85% of car components are estimated to be reusable or recyclable.

Import Regulations: To prevent the dumping of "unroadworthy" vehicles, the government will mandate pre-export certifications for all used car imports starting in 2026.

Green Transition: Plans are underway to train engineers and establish standards for converting petrol/diesel engines to Electric Vehicles (EV) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

Economic Growth: The reforms aim to boost local component manufacturing (e.g., tires, batteries) and create thousands of jobs in dismantling and logistics.

Legislation: The government is drafting an Auto Industry Bill to transition current policies into a formal Act of Parliament, providing a stable legal framework for large-scale investment.

The announcement follows a significant rebound in the automotive market, with passenger vehicle imports rising to N1.01tn in the first nine months of 2025.
Re: FG To Introduce Mandatory Vehicle Recycling Fee From 2026 by deolu2000(m): 2:59pm On Dec 22, 2025
The government is just not concerned with generating revenue through the maximization of our numerous resources but only interested in further making lives hard for people whose lives are already difficult thanks to numerous inhumane policies put in place since the inception of this government.
