GloryJoyeux:Disagree on all counts. And in fact, I think you're vastly out of touch with the energy needs of the average Nigerian family. You think the average Nigerian family is running a water heater? Or an air fryer? Or air conditioning? They aren't. Nigeria is an incredibly poor country and the median family would be satisfied with something that allows them watch TV, charge their phones, and keeps their fridge/freezer on, with the occasional use of a blender. You speak from a position of privilege. |

Each time I see some comments of 24 or 48v I walked down to my treasured 12v system (14 yrs) and smile because it satisfies my needs. The only thing I don't do with it is cook. No be everybody won cook, run AC, boil water, etc. Gloryjoyeux lives either in banana island or a well balanced environment where people don't carry bucket looking for where to fetch water or carry phones in search of where to charge, the list is on. 12V SYSTEM WILL SATISFY THE ENERGY NEEDS OF MORE THAN 80% OF NIGERIANS. N.B: 12v is good, 24 is better and 48v is best. Choose according to your energy needs. Truly na who get sense dey..... ![]() |

Valto:Just 4 pieces of these will charge your phones and laptops; turn on a 32" tv for 5hrs especially football lovers. Some are still waiting to save 2.5m and above to go 24v.... |

dollarnaira:In that 14yrz how long have you been on Lithium battery? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by dollarnaira(m): 7:59am On Dec 22, 2025 |
Unfaized:Lead acid for years upon years. I studied lead acid as if I need a degree on it that I had to buy a desulfurization charger. Port to Lithium in 2021 and I laugh when some compares lead and lithium. There are certain things that should not be compared. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by omotoda(m): 9:47am On Dec 22, 2025 |
GloryJoyeux:You are right with this as most people eventually upgrade from 12v to 48v eventually as power demands definitely increase over time and it is cheaper to have gone with much higher capacity at the initial stage. However,we must understand that fingers are not equal and economy is not smiling |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by omotoda(m): 9:52am On Dec 22, 2025 |
GloryJoyeux:True. My madam does not care whether we are on NEPA or solar, microwave on straight and you will hear freezer and fridge can't be off.I had to do a separate 5kva for fridge, freezer and microwave so my other house power needs do not suffer. However, all still co ones down to economic power. If one can invest in higher capacity at the on go,it's the best.Set up takes less space and is neater |

fuckboys:Boss, you were talking about how your system will give 24V a run for its money the other time. Abi no be you? What's the issue that make you to want to upgrade so soon? Just trying to learn, bro. Because I already bought same components you have because of the confidence then. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by dollarnaira(m): 11:13am On Dec 22, 2025*. Modified: 8:24pm On Dec 22, 2025 |
omotoda:"Energy need" and "upgrades" are relative. There are battery upgrade, inverter upgrade and pv upgrade of the same voltage. Sometimes ago I was in great need of electric iron, I won't bc of it upgrade my voltage system bc it is never cheap like most of put it. I only got a 300w iron which am very satisfied with. Note too that technology is advancing and with time all energy guzzling appliances will run at incredibly low wattage. The competition is already in place. I beg I dey find 500 to 800w electric jug. Naija is not smiling. A 12v 4.2kwh system is roughly 1.4m |

Hello noble minds please I mistakenly reversed the polarity fron my battery to my suave 2000w peak inverter, any remedy. No burnt smell just sparks before it was observed |

bkuranga:the system has never gone off or low in close to a year now since installation. It's a solid and rugged 12v system. I just wanna start using my Ac regularly. |

GloryJoyeux:While I get and agree with your point, I don't think everyone should be advised to go big or go home, from the get go. There will be mistakes made and it's actually cheaper to do all the experiments and learnings on a budget or "small" system. With time comes wisdom and with wisdom comes capacity. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adrusa: 12:30pm On Dec 22, 2025 |
omotoda:I have been on solar for more than 10 years and have been 99% dependent on solar for more than 4 years, yet my people have never learnt to conserve energy. 5KVa inverter will carry all my load but I got 7.5Kva becuase my people will turn on Kettle, Microwave and Toaster at the same time even when Water Heater is running in the morning. With a fridge and freezer, TV, light, fan and phone charging, 10KWh consumption per family per day will be conservative. People tend to underestimate their power need when planning solar installation. Your power use will grow with solar or with constant NEPA. |

fuckboys:Your ac is Inverter right? If yes get a dedicated system for it as ac usage demand is weather dependent. |

fuckboys:That is roughly 500w at eco settings. Do 314ah 4.2kwh 12v. You will run it for 7hrs. Remember say more pv will be needed plus landlord wahala. |

fuckboys:Best option for now.Thats how I came up with a separate 5kva for my fridge, freezer, microwave, blender, toaster and any other power equipment.Runs it on a 2.5kw 48v battery and 2100watts panel.Looking at increasing the battery for longer run time in the immediate future |
