Has ShopRite Finally Closed In Nigeria? Abuja Lady Reacts to Closed Outlets (Pix by Glimpsetv(op): 5:06pm On Dec 22, 2025
A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to express shock and confusion after discovering that several ShopRite outlets in Abuja were shut down.

According to her, she first visited ShopRite at Silverbird Galleria, only to find the store completely closed. Thinking it was a one-off issue, she proceeded to ShopRite at Jabi Lake Mall, but met the same situation — doors locked.

Still hoping to shop, the lady then headed to ShopRite at Novare Gateway Mall, Lugbe, but was left stunned once again as the outlet was also shut down.

Clearly disturbed by the repeated closures, she took to social media to ask the big question on everyone’s mind:
“I went to ShopRite Abuja and it was shut down everywhere. Has ShopRite finally closed in Nigeria?”

Her post has since sparked massive reactions online, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences, while others speculate about rising costs, economic pressure, and possible store shutdowns.

As of now, ShopRite has not officially announced a complete exit from Nigeria, but the growing number of closed outlets has left shoppers worried and searching for answers.
👀 Is this just restructuring… or the beginning of the end?

The owner of Shoprite in Nigeria is no longer interested in the brand name hence the change to a new name.

They are just rebranding.

A company cannot close for Christmas again? That her employer makes her work till a day before Christmas doesn’t mean all bosses are the same.

Desperately searching for excuses! A major retail outlet closing down in the run-up to Christmas, and sending its employees on early holiday! You can only hear of such in Tinubus' Nigeria where commonsense is stood on its head! grin wink

They will announce it when the decision is made. For now, just watch and wait.

For the lady, it's not a big deal. Just go elsewhere. If you want to shop, just go to a shop that is open for business.
