Three days ago. Someone contacted me to help him get a WhatsApp Sp Message sender to be able to use it to send up to a million whatsapp leads with no restrictions.

This job takes time and money but citing him as someone that had been on a friend list for long, i decided to work it out for him step by step for 30k. He made a deposit of 24k+ which i acknowledged.

I started the job the next day. Same day he messaged me and threatened to spoil my name. As odd as it sounds, that was exactly how the conversation went.

He just came with threats. I tried to pacify and even plead with him to give me few hours to conclude, but he insisted on dropping negative reviews.(From my screenshot below, you will see the conversation). That same day, he went to my profile here and said i defrauded him. I didn't want to respond to the allegations until i deliver his Job.

Less than 14hrs later, i messaged him and sent him a completed Job, and his reply was even more toxic than it was before.

I have built similar jobs for 500k to 1.2M in the past and those clients even gave me more than a week. But this client wouldn't have it that day. He Continued to insist i refund him for a job we started and completed.


I have met people of this category before. People that think coming on Nairaland to scream "scam" was an achievements.

On average i get more than 10 jobs every month from both recommendation and adverts. So it nothing new to me to meet people like this once in a while.

I wouldn't dare take my business for granted. I am simply glad i didn't delete our conversation.

If you were to be in my shoe, what would you do ?

The Client may have been having a bad day due to frustration and sees your platform as an opportunity to vent. They seem they are displeased about something else, though the delay may be a trigger point for their angry remarks. In addition to remaining professional, reassuring the client that you will deliver earlier than their expectation will show commitment. However, you may consider a refund policy that illustrates timelines for a refund and conditions showing what warrants a refund. If these conditions are not met, and still client wishes to receive their money back, a fee needs to be charged on their amount to cater for breach of contract, whenever a service was delivered.

would you refund a client after using the deposit to buy a non refundable hosting for the job ?


and why are some Nigerians very difficult to work with ?

a two hour delay in a job would cause an explosion in the character of some clients.

I have worked with South Africans before, I worked for Sunderland clients also. Also in some states in America like Alabama and Co.

if given this job, can you complete it in a week ? ofcos not. But i placed my priority right and completed a fully functional ai attache biJob in less than 48hrs.

This is not WordPress, not even click funnel(whatever a funnel is). This is pure job on Laravel framework.

I have had a similar experience before with someone consistently accusing me online. But when he was asked to present his proofs and get a fair return, he couldn't. His excuse was that a client i did a job for more than 5yrs ago said it cos he felt entitled for an app to be attached to 25k Naira website job i did for him. I declined to build the app unless we negotiate on the app...

an hour later, he started stalking me and saying i duped him. How was that admissible for a fraud.

Who builds an App for 25K in addition to a fully functional ecommerce ?

time will come, i will stop working with Nigerians to have my peace of mind. Once my travel gets concluded, i will severed my connection to anything Nigeria except family members.

If I tell you what I've been through working with so many people from here. You just realize why we have our awful reputation. I'm setting up things to work with just foreign clients.

One thing I noticed is, it's the clients you give the biggest discount that give you the biggest issues.

Imagine someone agrees to do job for less than $40 and the job would last a year before the client starts renewing domain name... Less than $40 and they will threaten less and brimestone if the job is not done in 3 days.

I had a job from one white South African in July. After we concluded, he didn't bother to even ask me about the job progress. He paid me my money($500) even without knowing me in person. I concluded the job and he even sent me an extra $100 from the benevolence of his heart.


I have worked with people that i even had to adjust the time of delivery and they didn't see it as a big deal. At the end, it was as usual, a complete job that will please the clients

I think around 5 to 7 years ago. We started the job as a budget work and because he wasn't so sure of what to do, we decide he purchase a hosting for Only 1 month until we conclude on the next step to follow,

After the 1 month, he messaged me that his work was offline(as at this time wit i already completed the job in four days or so...) . I told him everything and proposed he purchase the hosting by himself if he wants to be in total control. The dude automatically went berserk and before i knew it, he sent me a link that he is calling me out and that and that I defrauded. I Just entered confused state...

I was confused. Did they change the meaning of fraud. ?

How was i fraudulent in anyway?

When u sell your craft for peanut this is kind of a situation you will land yourself in , a high price will attract customers that knows ur worth , u and him will still fight because the hosting will cast soon a standard vps is 13k comot am from the rubbish you charged how much remain ur two days sleepless night and integration setup no worth anything to u , na u people dey use una hand paint una self black most times ,

Go and refund him next time u too will have sense
