A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Dele Momodu, has disclosed that if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was corrupt he would have been prosecuted by ex-Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Musa Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, and President Bola Tinubu.


Momodu challenged anybody with evidence of any Atiku’s corrupt practices with either the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, or Code of Conduct Tribunal to make it known.

He spoke on Monday night while fielding questions from participants of an X Space session titled “Avrilsspace: The Electoral Mathematics for 2027.”

According to Momodu: “There is nothing under the sun that has not been written about Alhaji Atiku Abubakar but I can tell you that they have not been substantiated.

“Even the bloody fight between him and his former boss, Obasanjo; you could see that if indeed Atiku was as bad as they claimed, there is no way he would not have been tried at that time by his or thereafter by Yar’Adua or Jonathan or Buhari or even now by Tinubu.

“So if anybody knows anywhere where Atiku has been indicted for stealing public property, sharing public properties to his friends and cronies they should please tell us.”

The former presidential candidate described Atiku as a consummate Democrat who doesn’t encourage thuggery or militancy.

“My fascination for him increased after he became the Director of Strategic Communications from 2022 to 2023 and I saw the way he ran his office, he’s a seasoned administrator, a consummate Democrat, he allows everybody the same.

“You will never go to Atiku’s house and find people wailing around, whether they are thugs, militants or anything. He is such a cosmopolitan gentle man and this has often worked against him but people say this man is a Lagos boy.

“For me, if anybody has any evidence of an indictment or the government of Nigeria should take to EFCC, ICPC, or Code of Conduct Tribunal please feel free to tell us,” he added.

No one is disputing the fact that Atiku is a consummate and seasoned administrator. The issue is that he is a thief and a criminal who has not been prosecuted due to the lack of evidence.

There are people who are more powerful than Nigeria's institutions. You cannot prosecute such people because Nigeria isn't designed to keep powerful people accountable. The concept of law and order is for broke Nigerians.

Dele is a kid. Davido said it, not me. He should know that there's a "bro code" at the top. Or does he think investigating a president or vice president is beans work? You have to drag the country down for you to do that because stealing at the top is not that simple. Take for example, Governors. Obi invested state funds in a bank he has interest in. He also use his position as governor to acquire 5% shares of a brewery. His aide was caught with N250 million of state funds. Today, Obi is seen as a man of integrity by some. He has not been prosecuted by the system, yet Dele is asking why Atiku has not been prosecuted! Does he think Atiku put the money inside Ghana must go and walked away? Or did Atiku not tell us about his SPVs

Atiku is a consummate democrat and a gentleman.

If he's truly clean and want his integrity untainted he ought to have slammed a libellous suit against OBJ for that damning allegations against him in his book "Under My Watch", that statement will continue to hunt his political ambition until he get it sorted out.

Atiku should publicly declare to do one term and hand over to Obi even if he doesn't mean it and let's get this election over with

You can accuse atiku of many things but not Tribalism
We need a national leader whom everyone can trust to be fair....
North dont trust Obi, that's a fact being a vice would usher him to the North and with time he would be trusted

I didn't support Obi because he was hit corrupt no I supported him because he was knowledgeable on developmental economics

Did you ever read OBJ’s book? There is nowhere in the book where he accused him of corruption or embezzlement; he only described him as overambitious. The only time OBJ accused him of corruption was when both of them were having issues

Anybody can write anything about people especially when they worked together but that does not mean the words are true or false. It could go either ways.
So I won't judge Atiku based on what was said about him. Things have been said about me in my place of work and I asked me self. Is that me? I knew it was just pure lies.
