Wike wanted to hold the PDP for Tinubu for one big reason and that is to become it's presidential candidate for 2031 because he knows he can't fight Tinubu in 2027 when he doesn't have total control of Rivers and PDP. But 2031 could be a long time and his relevance may fade out so he is just destroying PDP so Tinubu keep him close to power until he has all his arsenals ready to challenge APC

Bring PDP to its knees so all elected on its platform anywhere he has influence will desert the Party and move over to APC such that in 2027 Tinubu can return and APC govern Rivers State. Meanwhile he remains in Tinubu's government and continue to weaken PDP. When Tinubu is done in eight years he can reassess his options. Wike is not looking to contest any elections in about 5 years.
