Train Collides With Bus In Lagos by easzypeaszy(op): 5:50pm On Dec 23, 2025
A train collided with a Toyota Hiace bus on Monday night, Dec. 22, at Arena, Oshodi, Lagos State.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has confirmed no casualty or de@th was recorded in the collision.

LASEMA disclosed this in a preliminary report issued by the Permanent Secretary of the agency , Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, and dated December 23, 2025.

Following the alerts, the agency said it immediately activated the state’s emergency response plan from its Cappa Base in Oshodi and deployed its response team to the scene.

“Following distress alerts received on it’s 767/112 Toll Free Emergency Lines at 1953hours, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, activated the State’s Emergency Response Plans from it’s Cappa Base, Oshodi,” the agency stated.

According to LASEMA, its response team arrived at the scene by 8:11pm, where it discovered that a train had collided with a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number AGL-671-XR.

“Upon arrival of LRT at the incident scene by 2011hours, it was discovered that a train and a Toyota Hiace bus registration number AGL-671-XR were involved in an accident at the aforementioned location,” the report read.

Giving details of how the accident occurred, the agency said preliminary findings showed that reckless driving by the bus driver led to the incident.

“Preliminary investigation conducted by the Agency’s Response Team revealed the immediate cause of the incident was due to reckless driving on the part of the Toyota Hi-Ace bus driver while driving outside the Arena shopping complex Oshodi, but was hit by an on-coming train which left the bus stuck on the rail tracks,” LASEMA said.

The agency noted that despite the severity of the collision, no one was injured.

“Fortunately, no casualty nor mortality was recorded as a result of the incident,” it added.

However, the crash caused significant damage to the bus.

“The incident resulted in significant damage to the white Toyota Hi-Ace bus, due to magnitude of the crash,” the agency stated.

LASEMA said its response team carried out a risk assessment at the scene and implemented safety measures to prevent further incidents.

“LASEMA Response Team conducted appropriate Risk Assessment of the incident scene and activated necessary Safety and Control Measures, to curtail any secondary incident,” it said.

The agency also confirmed that train operations were temporarily halted to allow for evacuation of the bus.

“Agency’s Response Team passed urgent Information to the railway station to stop train operations pending the evacuation of the accidental bus,” the statement read.

According to the report, the bus has since been removed from the tracks and towed to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority yard in Oshodi.

“The white Toyota Hi-Ace bus involved in the accident has been extracted from the railway tracks.

“The recovered accidental white bus has been towed to LASTMA yard in Oshodi,” it added.

LASEMA further stated that the rail line had been cleared and normal activities restored.

“The rail track has been set free and normal activities has been restored. Recovery Operation has been successfully concluded,” the agency said.

The bus/car/driver must be under the influence of weed/alcohol If you are used to the train route or how it been built..There should be no casualties
But some people no matter how or what, they will kiill themsef and cause problems to others
Re: Train Collides With Bus In Lagos by matify83: 5:54pm On Dec 23, 2025
Thank God no life was lost.

Growing up, there use to be crossing gates wherever rail lines intersect with roads.

Whatever happened to this important safety feature which should have stopped the encroachment of the bus onto the track even before the train arrived the intersection?

Why build infrastructures without supporting structures and safety features?

May God continue to help us. Some drivers are so reckless that they don't value their own life not to talk of the lives of the passengers.

However, there is a certainty that similar incidents will occur in the future that may claim lives unless this reckless driver is severely punished to serve as a detterent to others!

Re: Train Collides With Bus In Lagos by Deffi(m): 7:00pm On Dec 23, 2025
When a train is arriving at road intersections, it is best for cars & trucks to wait. Reason being that, there is electric shock and charge at the rails which do atimes lock the rims of cars or trucks, not allowing them to move over the rails. Thus we see vehicles often get stuck trying to cross. That time, the advisable thing is to run out of the vehicle!

But the best thing to do whenever a train is approaching,.....is to park & wait for the train to roll by.

Look at what you're typing. Was the train riding on ground . Shows you didn't read the write-up. Rather than ask how the bus found it's way in the track, your write up is about train. It's well

You speak like you’re a foreigner. This is Nigeria
Let me ask you a question? How many times have ever seen a driver slow down at a zebra crossing ?

That should give you more perspective on what I’m talking about

I'm old enough to recall that there used to be the barriers he referred to, and they worked. That was in the 1980s.

The downfall of our railways meant the end of the barriers sadly. Looks like they haven't been fixed back

Oh and the barriers covered the whole length of the road. No car could cross them unless they smashed through them

Let's not continue to hide under the toga of this is Nigeria.

The attitude we brazenly display here with reckless abandon dissipates without warning immediately we step our feet in climes where the law doesn't respect personalities.
That's to tell you that our behavior is environmental and not a genetic mutation.

Uphold the law and see people shape-up.

I was a teenager during the Buhari-Idiagbon regime. Come and see orderliness and cleanliness in kaduna those years.

Though, I will not subscribe to draconian laws or military rule.

Failure of the law breeds indiscipline

I get you. We are our problem. But let whoever is in charge of the railways do a good job. We spent close to a 10k usd per KM of those friggin rails. From our purses. So let’s hold him accountable for any lose of property and emotional damages he must have caused for a job badly done! fix the rails and include rail guards that’ll automatically shut off the road intersections when a train is incoming.

That’s not rocket science
We dey complain say the whole work is overpriced yet he did a bad job and no one is saying anything about it. Thats why I said “this is Nigeria”

And you know wha I mean. Don’t pretend like you don’t. If you talk now them go say na “Omo ibo”

Like I’m just tired of Naija man
It’s a hopeless situation. And this won’t be the first time a crash of such is happening at tha same exact arena intersection and nothing has been done.

… it’s like we are joking in this country.
Something will happen over and over again yet nothing and no one will held accountable
Re: Train Collides With Bus In Lagos by MasterTeeUSA: 8:21pm On Dec 23, 2025
go on YouTube...even in USA you will see several accidents because people want to play daredevil with train ...why we are so quick to call Naija names just amazes me...normal people will blame the drivers but we have a few that will blame the Govt...did the train leave the track to hit the bus?
