Fintiri just set a bad precedent by setting a convicted murderer free because the case was a clear case of murder.

Jackson was attacked by a Fulani man with a knife but he was able to gain the knife and even immobilized his attacker which meant Jackson had the upper hand. At that point in time Jackson was no longer in danger and had no reason to kill the Fulani man but he still went ahead to slit his throat and that was the bases for his trial and eventual conviction for murder which was a fair conviction.

Those who do not know how the law works are the the ones talking nonsense.

Happy for Mr. Sunday Jackson but it is already too late for the Law in Nigeria...The Supreme Court messed up by upholding the death penalty in this case. It was at that point i realised judgements are not based on the letter of the law. How do these Judges sleep at night?

No. Our laws need to be ammended . The Supreme Court interpreted it as it is . The young man made a mistake of sputting it in his statement that he collected the knife then proceeded to stab him. The law says at that point he had the advantage and when he stabbed the guy he committed murder .

Now the lesson here is if you are ever in that situation, just say during the struggle you really don't know how the attacker died. Never admit to any decisive action .

Jackson is a murderer
Jackson defended himself initially and was able to gain the knife from the Fulani man and even immobilized the Fulani man but Jackson proceeded to slit the throat of the Fulani man and that point it became a murder case because Jackson was no longer in danger when he killed the Fulani man.
