There are many other supermarket offering same services and closer to the people now. Jendor at ajah which open early this year has reduced the custormers in both lekki and sangotedo. ShopRite is still bubbling in state where there are no or little competition. edo state and delta state is a classical example. shoprite outlet in Lagos is not more than ten in Lagos but the likes of Boku, Justrite, Jendor and others has over hundred outlets.

Many Nigerians haven't realized how much APC and Tinubu destroyed Nigeria's economy.

Competition is not supposed to make a company shutdown if the nation's economy is booming like it ought to be.

Nigeria's middle-class population have been wiped out by Tinubu's terrible policies. Most migrated abroad, many lost their jobs and now struggling so going to supermalls to shop is no longer easy for them with lean budget

Yes, Shoprite is significantly pulling back from several African countries, exiting markets like Malawi, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, the DRC, and Madagascar to focus on its profitable core South African operations due to tough economic conditions, currency issues, and regulatory challenges. This strategic shift involves selling stores and streamlining operations outside its home base, despite strong growth within South Africa.

What do you expect? The severe taxation and terrible economy Tinubu has worsen led to this. That's why many companies increase their price of goods and services, others have folded up their companies and left. As a matter of fact, foreign countries benefit from our resources better than we do.

It's a ShopRite issue, not Nigeria's. Nigeria isn't the only country where the parent company closed operations. Meanwhile, there are other companies offering ShopRite-like services, so the argument that Nigerians aren't suited for such shopping services doesn't hold.

shopping malls does not make much compared to an average trader at alaba who get sales every day.

How many people shop at malls these days but almost everyone go to the market .

Very much normal.
Many reasons and different reasons for always shutting down.
In the good old days, we once had Kingsway Supermarket, Chanrais, Lennards all operating in different parts of the country.
Now it sounds like history and fable that a giant retail supermarket like Kingsway once existed.
Times really change and things change with time.
