A good drainage system will solve over flooding and not sandy compounds or floors although we need more green areas in our environment but definitely not to control flooding rather to balance the natural order

Thank you for the advice. Someone had mentioned this to me before. I don’t have a spare space, It’s a stand alone duplex. I think I will just build a self contained as security apartment and get someone to live there.

Build a selfcontain boys quarter or security building extension..

I have 3 duplexes in my compound, with an Obi (palace hall) which has a 2-room boys quarter extension, the tenant family occupies that space for free, and keep the compound clean.

When the economic trees get overgrown, they find people to buy the fruits and harvest the tree.. The money goes into little repairs and maintenance here and there..

Not quite what I wanted because I believe people are naughty or more forthright with their opinion here due to the anonymous membership of NL if you take that away people hold back their true thought on matters and then waters NL down.

I think the disclaimer at the footnote absolve NL of any wrong doing without having to actively moderate between users who don't know each other's identity.

If the front page moderator is not motivated to scan out of many topics in NL then employ me to moderate the front page and see huge difference. Furthermore, I think you can be rotating the moderators on weekly basis.

Needless to say that I'm hooked on NL despite the changes I'm here for live that's if I don't get life ban and the AI bot has actually made me to be more polite in returning insults.

And the one-letter spacing marking crew has stopped now since there is character limits now.

In summary you can't please all the people all the time so well done Mr Seun for the forum and your efforts to make it as good as it can be.

You are suffering from either superiority or inferiority complex and lack of self esteem if a total stranger's opinion about you and your tribe upsets you. You should develop a thick skin.

What sound as intelligent commentary to you might be an ignorant commentary to others. Every information as a commentary should be welcomed as everyone should be entitled to his or her opinion not your; "Please, don't mind that character" mindset you started your "intelligent commentary" with.

This isn't a growing trend, the insides of compounds/estates, especially in urban centers have always been covered either with cement or interlock.

Furthermore, I understand your concern, and that is technically beyond the scope of operations of an ordinary Nigerian.

But then, in my opinion, this style gives the compound a premium look.

I run carpet grass on my property and it's looking dappa.
Very little maintenance

Rubbish....Interlocking when done properly leaves room for water to move through, for rain heavy areas like Lekki, it is even more imparative to do this otheriwse you risk having mud or dirt all over the bottom and sides of your house.

All that environmental concern is hogwash.....Come to New York City or downtown Atlanta you won't see space not to talk of greens yet the drainage system works incredibly well, so stop the LAMBA!

We were mearnt to stay close to nature with beautiful greenery and walk on the bare ground. Man was created from the ground. I love the ground, clay, and silt.

I love the smell of raw clay especially the one dug from rivers and beaches. Nature is life!

Not true. I have same pavement in my house in Lagos and haven't seen a single grass since the last 5 years. If I need grass on it, it will only be artificial grass.

Lagos have bad drainage system and its also a low lying city. More reason why we shouldn't pave.
