I believe the reason the US wanted to bomb terrorist badly in the north is just to show that they can attack anywhere in west africa after trump made lot of noise, it is just a show of strength to China and Russia, reason why they blackmailed nigeria with Christian Genocide.

this airstrike will literally just push the terrorists else where and complicate the safety of people who were once living in peace.
