Friend Who Vanished With ₦5 Million Reappears 3 Years Later Begging For Money by Savageman247(op): 10:01am On Dec 26, 2025
A Nigerian man has narrated how trust, friendship, and generosity took a surprising turn after he tried to help a close friend during the 2022 Christmas season.

According to him, the friend reached out asking for “Christmas money.” Rather than send a small token, he credited the friend with ₦5 million and also included a list of other beneficiaries he wanted to financially support for the festive period, since he was deployed at the time and unable to handle the transfers himself.

He explained that his friend agreed to help distribute the funds and provide a breakdown of payments. However, immediately after receiving the money, the story took a strange twist — the friend vanished.

Communication reportedly stopped completely. The last message exchange between them was on December 26, 2022, when he pleaded with his friend to please send the money to those on the list. His messages were ignored.

For over two years, there was total silence… until yesterday.

Out of nowhere, the same friend resurfaced — once again asking for “Christmas money.” Shocked by the audacity, the man simply replied with “lol.” When the friend pressed further, begging and trying to explain himself, the response remained the same: “lol.”

Despite everything, he says he has no intention of blocking him — but the trust is gone, and the lesson remains a painful one.

Sometimes, the biggest heartbreaks don’t come from strangers. They come from those we once trusted without hesitation.

You gave a hungry man a plate of food to share among hungry people when he hasn't had his fill.

Next time, don't tempt broke people with money. Poverty stricken people don't reason like normal people.

Forget... An average Nigerian is something else.

I have travelled around and lived in at least 3 continents, and I can tell you honestly, that most Nigerians are a whole new level of greedy, wicked, and corrupt.

I no longer bother arguing this obvious fact with any so called "Defender of Nigeria's Pride".

None of you can ever be more Nigerian than I am... Or love Nigeria more than I do.

We keep insulting Tinubu and all our leaders (and yes, they deserve even far worse for being corrupt and useless)... But, we continue to ignore the unchecked rot and decay in our individual and shared value systems.

An average Nigerian is highly religious yet shockingly IMMORAL...!

So in 2017, i met a very struggling older guy, he was first born but not doing anything, his brothers were insulting him and too much see finish, i took him to my uncle who is an inffluencial politician under buhari govt.

My uncle gave him a job, i even refeerred his younger brother as well and he was also employed.
I helped set up a business for his mom and took them as my brothers.

Fast forward to early this year, my uncle, his boss, buried his mom, (my granny) i was putside the country but i felt he was the best person to pass along my contributions for the burial,
I sent him money to buy wine and a cow. We planned everything but the moment he received the money, we havent chatted again till date.

I later found out he had resigned by then, i didnt even bother asking him.

I dont join issues with such people, i only apologised to my uncle for disappointing him

I say it without mincing words... Doing business with most Nigerians is dangerously RISKY.

You have to be 200% present and hyper-vigilant.

You are better off trusting a rattlesnake.

Back in 2011, a guy begged me for money that his family needed it urgently, he ended up getting 5k to be repaid within a week.

I saw this guy daily for over 6 months till I relocated from that area, and he never repaid it.

He was even throwing parties and doing hangouts... When I approached him, he didn't even beg or nothing.

The brazenness of it all... The audacity to owe money or even misappropriate funds yet strut around in the public... That is the nature of an average Nigerian.

Refund ke?!!

People that believe loaned or stolen money is their personal right.

See Wike and his ilk boldly singing and dancing while stealing funds that even their 5th generation can never spend completely.

As for "accountability", that word is alien even to the most learned amongst us.

Nigerians are too hard on themselves
Where on earth will you find "morality" "refunds" "accountability" "ethics" and "principles" amongst a people when the inhabitants of the community/society are in survival mode?
